Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Elena has an interesting post about Caryll Houselander , author of Petook, Catholic Stories for Boys and Girls, My Path to Heaven, etc.

I didn't really know where to put this, but since Petook was discussed just recently, thought I'd put it here.

Suzanne,
I have a mini-degree from studying Caryll Houselander. How did you ever know?

Very interesting character. Very interesting writer.

If anyone ever gets the chance, read her autobiography "A Rocking Horse Catholic". It's very brief and an extremely easy read.

As a Caryll Houselander fan, I second Cay's recommendation and actually anything written by her.

Thanks for posting, Suzanne

Very interesting, Elena. Thanks for the link, Suzanne. One thing caught my attention as I began reading. Robin Maas referred to Caryll as a "homely" child, but the photo Elena has of Caryll as a girl shows an extremely beautiful child. Not homely at all to my eye!
