We have good friends and role models and inspirations in our spiritual journey, a couple who has been married more than 30 years with 7 kids. They are very dear to us, and we were so glad that after we moved here from Hawaii, they moved here too. When the huge Walter Reed scandal hit, they were touched personally by it. There has been so much stress, so much time stolen from them because of it. And now we found out that our friend just this week had a mass removed from his abdomen, probably lymphoma. Will you hold them in prayer? Chuck, Linda, John, Tim, Katie, Chris, Beth, Kimmi, and Jenni. Thank you.

Here's an update from his caringbridge site: Thank you all for your prayers!
FRIDAY, MAY 04, 2007 03:39 PM, CDT
We are blessed to have a great oncologist at Walter Reed who has been available to us since this journey began. He took time to see us the first week of testing, well before we had any biopsy results. Multiple pathologists and lymphoma experts have confirmed the diagnosis of nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s disease. [ From May 4--It is described as “indolent” because it progresses slowly, may have relapses that are responsive to treatment and which are rarely fatal.]
He has consulted with a number of experts from around the country regarding this diagnosis, and all recommend no specific treatment at this time – with repeat PET/CT Scans in about July and regular follow-up thereafter.
This is a far cry from awakening in the recovery room on April 10th and hearing that the frozen sections looked like this was NonHodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was preparing to miss most of the next year with chemotherapy and the like. So we are very thankful – and feel very much like the diagnosis we have ended up with is a result of your prayers.
As to the GI symptoms that have landed me back in the hospital once (almost twice!) we will do some scopes and things later in this month, after my son’s graduation from college on May 11th, and after I have healed a bit from the surgery.
As I have mentioned, the theology of all this is difficult to sort out. But I am convinced that God promises that when storms arise He will be with us; that in the end we can count on His Glory and Our Good. While I have been working through what that means to me and to my family as we navigate this storm together, we have ever sensed His nearness.
Our trust in Him has only been reinforced through these times.
