Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm getting confirmed in about 1 1/2 weeks. I need to have a confirmation saint by Thursday. I've been praying about it, but I can't seem to come up with one. I thought I had narrowed it down to St. Elizabeth (Mary's cousin) and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, but neither one really resonates with me as much as I thought it would.

Could you give me a quick prayer that I figure this out?

Thank you.

Praying, KC. Tonight I listened to all of my son's fellow confirmandi practice for Saturday's Confirmation Mass...the boys were very creative, but the girls stuck to Bernadette, Teresa, Lucy, etc. We had one Adele...one Audrey (crossed out and converted to Lucy)...one Patricia...

It's hard. Mine is St. Therese of Lisieux. I always liked the idea that an ordinary person could aspire to sainthood without doing one huge thing...just a large number of small, everyday devotions and sacrifices.

One of my friends who converted recently has a huge devotion to St. Gianna Molla (because she was so pro-life, and because she is a contemporary saint, with living descendants). St. Gianna really appeals to me, too, because she put her motherhood above all other concerns.

I do love St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (Emmitsburg is a great place...you should come on up! In fall!). Our last parish in WV is dedicated to her.

What you and I could use, KC, is a saint who was a military wife!

I will pray for you. Take heart. Tonight there were a couple of people who hadn't picked names...confirmation is Saturday.

Hang in there!

I'm praying for you too KC. With so many amazing stories and witnesses it can be really hard to pick one special saint!

I picked St. Lawrence since he recognized truth and had a sense of humor even in a great deal of pain. I probably have stronger devotions to other saints now, but whenever I think back to why I picked St. Lawrence, I find myself loving him all over again.

I hope your confirmation is beautiful.

Praying, KC. My confirmation saint was Maria Goretti. I chose her because I was 13, and wanted her to help me keep me strong and pure during my teenage years.

I don't have as much devotion now to her, but I don't regret the saint -- she's what I needed. Now I pray to her to keep my son pure.
