Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Someone mentioned liking to hear what peoples Easter's are like,,,,,I too am interested. I thought I would share my center piece with you all

I bought new baby chicks, put them in a rustic cage, inside a basket, lined with flowers and natural grass.   It was charming.   Our Priest friend came by and told my dh to take pictures as we will need them later for evidence of my insanity

We hunted eggs in the snow, trying to keep all the ducks, chickens and goats from eating the eggs first

Anyone else want to share a normal Easter

Well ours is very different weather-wise - I've seen snow only once in my life and not in the state that I live. We spent Sunday lunch down at a park along the seafront with relatives, perfect Autumn weather in a sub-tropical state!

Liturgically, things were a little different this year. I sing for a gregorian chant choir in the Novus Ordo Mass but friends asked me to sing the chant in a Latin Mass at their home. It was so wonderful to sing the Good Friday, "Ageios" and the other beautiful chants in the Latin service that day. They were late Masses as the young priest had his commitments to fulfill in his parish - so 10 pm was the usual starting time (except for Friday which was 5pm.)

Easter Sunday we went to our usual parish, the English speaking community of a Polish parish and they know how to decorate the church so wonderfully for Easter!! The tomb is built on one side of the church with Jesus wrapped in a shroud. How we sung the alleluia that morning!!! - we are starting our morning prayers with an extended 'Alleluia' followed by 'Regina Caeli' and will continue for the whole Easter season - it makes us aware of the season from the beginning of the day.

Our big focus was our cookies, something new and delightful, we gave them as gifts and used them to decorate the table. We invited one of our godfather's to Easter Sunday supper in the evening.

We read the table blessings for each day from Blessings of the Table and we have just started Tomie dePaola's The Garden of the Good Shepherd for the next 50 days.

On Holy Thursday night, because our Mass was very late we had a very relaxed dinner by candlelight - using the red candles in glass shots that was inspired by Ruth's idea, it created a lovely atmosphere, I have decided to use candles in that way at the table for liturgical eating, it creates a wonderful mood and setting for the children, even our 2year old was attentive and aware that something special was happening. We watched The Passion Movie up until the Judas hanging scene (all of the Holy Thursday night scenes) and since our Good Friday service wasn't starting until 5pm, we watched the remainder of the movie mid afternoon.

Good Friday morning we joined in with a parish nearby to do the Stations of the Cross outdoors around a big Lagoon leading back to the church for confessions.

We will be attending a homeschooling camp next week for a week and so we see this as a joyful time to be with many loved friends in a wonderful season for celebrating.

Your chicks sound perfectly wonderful! Very creative not at ALL insane! - or maybe I'm insane too!
