Let's add another topic . My favorite in this category is I Believe in Love. This has been on my bookshelf since January 2003 (at least that's what Amazon tells me ), but I just started reading it this summer, at the suggestion of a dear friend. It's already my favorite and I can tell it's one which will be read again and again in an almost ongoing manner.
Before this one--and still a close second--is The Hidden Power of Kindness

"Do I know Jesus? Does Jesus Know me?" by Hans Ur Von Balthasar
This book made a big impact in my relationship with Jesus.
And another vote for the Hidden Power of Kindness.

I Believe in Love is also my all-time favorite. My mother had copies from 1974, so I think I started reading it around 1988, and rereading, and rereading. I have written down quotes, put them in my prayerbook. I bring this along for just snatches of spiritual reading year after year. Especially when I'm not at peace this helps me so much.
Dh and I met online, and it was right before Lent. Dave asked if I had any book to recommend reading during Lent, and I suggested this. He read it and loved it. That's when I knew I had someone really special and sympatico!
A distant second is Praying While You Work by Dom Van Zeller. Sophia reprinted it as Holiness for Housewives.

Well, my all time favorite is Abandonment to Divine Providence by Jean-Pierre de Caussade. I first read about him in our local Catholic newspaper when my younger three girls were just one. The article talked about the sacrament of the the present moment . Every moment is precious in God's eye. That really hit me hard because I was feeling like I had no prayer time since all I did was feed babies and change diapers. I bought the book and the way I viewed my motherhood changed. I try to read it each year now.
I also have I Believe in Love. If I understand it correctly, St. Therese of Lisieux was very much influenced by Jean-Pierre de Caussade's writings.
Peace,
Mare

Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence . I stumbled across it in the adoration chapel a few years ago. It made a huge impact on the way I look at life and faith. We buy the inexpensive book in multiples now because we keep giving our copies out to people all the time!
I haven't completed reading this yet, but I have another book that is already becoming a favorite. It's All For Jesus: The Easy Ways of Divine Love.

Hmmmm...just an observation:
I Believe in Love
Abandonment to Divine Providence
Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence
All run on the same theme -- total confidence and trust and surrender to God. Does it seem that as a mother we need to learn to let God do the driving?
Plus the other theme, total love and immersion that every action and thought during the day are acts of love to Him. Dirty diapers and runny noses CAN get us to heaven!

This book is awesome (and fairly new)!!
_The Cure of Ars Today_ by William George Rutler
Rutler is an incredible writer. Practically every sentence was full of wit and twists. An excellent read. Like no other book on the Cure!

I can't decide but anything by Fulton Sheen is excellent. I am just starting Hidden Power of Kindness.
