My sister has had a rough couple of years. Anyway, she just called to tell me she's been on an antidepressant since last November. Needless to say, I'm saddened  and surprised. She's had such a burden that I feel awful that I didn't know.
I think it started with post partum depression and just snowballed with all that happened since the birth of her second (he almost died--GBS turned into sepsis immediately after birth, she ended up in the hospital with cogenital heart failure, diagnosed with lifelong arthritic condition that ends up with fusing of spine, husband had shoulder surgery and ended up with a blood clot). Anyway, I feel really badly that I just didn't know.
I would appreciate some prayers. She said she's been on an even keel, but that March has been really difficult. She thinks the doctor is going to have to up the dosage of her meds.
I sometimes feel all I do is post prayer requests. Know that I pray for all your intentions. Does anyone know if there's a patron saint of people with depression?

Prayers for your sister, KC. I had a really bad depressive episode when I was away at school, in my late 20s. I had several siblings on and off campus. I was really struggling, but I didn't tell them. It wasn't until the campus medical center called my one sister that she had any inkling, and she felt terrible.
But I was trying to not burden others. Depression is a lonely disease... It's not your fault, KC. Now that you know you can help her, and we'll help with our prayers.

Depression is hard to talk about, even to family. (Sometimes especially to family.) If you didn't know about it, KC, I doubt that it is your fault.
I will certainly pray for your sister. I don't know if there is a patron saint for depression, but it would be nice to find out. I often pray to St. Jude when things just seem impossible.

I will pray for your sister. As Jenn said, depression is a very lonely illness and is never something to be taken lightly.
I believe St. Dymphna is the saint to pray to.

St. Dymphna, St. Dymphna, St. Dymphna. My brother has schizophrenia and he stays close to her. There are even beautiful statues available.
