Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Did anyone see this interview on March 9th?

Here's what started the whole thing.

And here's an article my husband found on the subsequent interview between Hannity and Fr. Euteneuer.

I've always been a fan of Sean Hannity, but am rethinking my position...

I watched it the other day and was incensed (my dh listens to him daily). I couldn't believe how he attacked Fr. Euteneuer on that show (it's on youtube if you want to watch it). And then the response from Fr. Morris -- unbelievable. And neither Fr. Morris nor Hannity addressed the issue directly that Fr. E. brought to the fore. I e-mailed the link to my dh right away, including Jeff Mirus' article -- he and several other Catholic friends are big SH fans and listen to him all the time.

Interesting. A Catholic in favor of birth control? Forgive me, but I just can't reconcile that one.
Add to it the little tirade against a good and holy priest and I just have to pass on Mr Hannity.

This so disappoints me...perhaps Mr. Hannity is in need of some catechesis.

Yes, Mary Ann (momtomany) and I can talk about little else these days. A friend told us about it and we went to Fox News to watch. And what really bothers me, is how a "good" Catholic like Sean Hannity could so completely disrespect a priest (and a very holy one at that) on national television. But, he (SH) learned Latin, so according to him that makes it all good.

Well, I have to say I didn't even know who Sean Hannity is ... but it is seems that this, like many events in the media, is one of those brouhahas that get completely blown out of proportion and no matter what, Sean Hannity (being, I assume) a media star will "win" and Fr. Euteneur (being a media gadfly) will "lose".

It's so sad to see tin this era the complete disrespect and media circus that religious and religious stances become -- Hannity as a self-professed Catholic CANNOT be pro-birth control at the same time. And if he publicly declares that he is pro birth control than he is causing scandal and should be reprimanded -- maybe not in the public forum of a FOX-TV show, but still reprimanded just as the politicians like Pelosi and others.....

We probably need to pray for these folks and not get into a bashing session ....

I'm the same. I heard about this and was really disappointed.

Mary -

You're absolutely right that we need to pray for them. Fr. Euteneur tried to talk to Sean Hannity off air, but he refused and wanted to "air" it out on national television.

This doesn't surprise me. I stopped listening to SH when he started proclaiming Rudy Giuliani (a man I can't morally vote for) as the best option for the Republican party in '08.

I'm pretty disappointed in this turn of events, as well. I plan to write him and tell him that I will be praying for him to have a heart conversion.

Man, watching that youtube link made my blood boil!!

I guess God is calling us all to storm heaven for a conversion of heart for Mr. Hannity. To tear down a holy priest on national television--that is a terrible thing...

That is what made me the most angry! SH can just over-talk Father and interrupt him and raise his voice over his and somehow that makes him "win"! And all because Father couldn't even finish his sentences!

I loved how Hannity was struck speechless at the end when Fr. E says he would deny him communion. Good for Father!

But I think this could have been mitigated significantly if the Legionaries of Christ priest who is Fox's go-to on-air guy for all things Catholic had come out strongly in defense of authentic Church teaching. Instead, he defended Hannity???

At that link for foxnews by the other priest, they had a link to click for an update. It looks like the Legionaires priest is working to be dipomatic, perhaps?

I believe that Fr. Euteneur's response to Fr. Morris is excellent, response.

If I watched television, I would let Hannity and Fox know that I would not be watching until Hannity apologizes to Fr. Euteneur for treating him so disrespectfully. Hannity is in my prayers as he is definitely in need of catechesis.

We are praying for both Hannity and Fr. Morris. It is all that we can do.

However, my dh was quite angry with Fr. Morris and had me call and stop our support of the Legionary seminary. Fr. Maciel teaches contemplative and conquering actions. We felt that Fr. Morris was a bit lacking in this area before he made his remarks regarding the "debate."

I was told that Fr. Morris has apologized, but the words are already out there ... and Fr. Euteneur is such a good and holy priest. The unfortuate outcome may be more harm to the Legionary priests.

I've just read the transcripts of the event...what an unbelieveable performance by Hannity, throwing 'straw men' left, right and centre!

Thank God for holy, young priests such as Fr Euteneur, God Bless him!!
