Tim,
I was wondering if there was a way to hide whether I am on or off line. My problem is that I'll leave a window open so I can read it when I get a chance, but it can appear as if I'm online all day long (it can take awhile to get to the window).

It's not a huge problem, but I'd feel weird if someone thought I was just sitting around doing nothing, but reading posts all day.

The web server keeps track of visitors through the use of unique "sessions." The list of members who appear online at any given point in time is based on the active sessions reported by the web server, and each session will "time out" after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Each time you request a forum web page, the web server resets your session timer to zero. Unless you refresh the page or navigate to another page on the forum, your session will expire 15 minutes later, even if you leave your browser window open for the rest of the day.

So, if you come back to read a post 2 hours after initially viewing it, you will not appear online at that time.
