Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm just trying to get a feel for the new categories... Since the Montessori posts have been placed under Early Childhood Learning (I think they all have?)... does that mean that I should direct Montessori related posts about my elementary aged children to the Real Learning board, and continue to post topics related to Montessori and my preK aged children to the Early Learning Board?

And then if I'm talking about Montessori philosophy it should go to the Educational Philosophy board, right?

Just trying to sort things out! Thanks!

Thank you so much for asking this Angela! I was wondering the same thing, and I'm confused about where to post Montessori related questions regarding the older kids and general philosophy. I've been saving up throughout the moderator's retreat!

Very much looking forward to the guidance in the answer.

Generally, if the Montessori question relates to a subject matter, like Language, Math, Geography, science, it should be posted under the appropriate forum that fits this category, i.e., Geography questions now under "Across Time and Place".

Catechesis, atrium, and Moira's albums would be posted under "Life in the Domestic Church".

"Early Childhood Learning" covers areas from preschool to early elementary. In the Montessori area, this could be from 3 to 3rd grade age.

Later elementary Montessori questions could be posted under "Real Learning and More".

Anything regarding the discussion of the philosophy of Montessori will now be directed under "Educational Philosophy" board.

I know it is confusing...trying to retrofit the past organization into the current system is difficult. It's hard to accept change for this old dog, too.

But it does promise to make more sense to keep subject discussions together and have more input from various viewpoints, since so few of us have a purist approach in anything in our homes. For example, it will be nice to have all discussions related to Early Childhood Learning under one place, such as early phonics, beginning reading, math manipulatives, etc.

Ask away if this is still confusing.

Just wanted to add my support for this change. I think it benefits us all to look at the subjects from many different approaches. As much as I loved that board, having Montessori methods on a board all it's own did lead to a bit of isolation from the rest of the 4 real community when it came to discussing subject areas. It will be nice to now have Montessori methods sprinkled throughout the board!
