I talked to her this evening. She is home from the hospital. Her horrible back pain has gone away (she believes it was the prayers!) but she still has a headache and nausea.
She had the MRI and they found nothing to explain the pain. That is good news in that a lot of bad things might show up on the MRI and DIDN'T, but bad news because there was nothing obvious to account for the episode and her ongoing headache.
They are thinking that she might have an inflamed lumbar disc (is that the right word? Anyway, something to do with the discs in the spine). So, basically, all good but negative news -- ruling out bad things, but what's actually going on is a bit of a mystery.
Her bloodwork all was normal so she didn't have to go on antibiotics.
She gets nauseated when she looks at a screen so she is thinking that she won't get back on the computer for a couple more days anyway. That's why I'm doing the updating  . She is looking forward to reading this thread when she is feeling better.
So if you could pray for her headache and that this whole thing resolves and allows her to resume normal life (!)(what's normal, right??) I am sure that would be much appreciated.
Chari has a high pain tolerance so I can hardly imagine the kind of pain that would put her in the hospital on IV meds. So please pray that does not return!

I'm so glad she is home and no longer in any back pain.
Praying now dear Chari, that your headache goes away and that there will be answers forthcoming about why this happened. Praying so hard for your physical comfort. I know the pain of severe headaches.

Could I ask for one more particular grace?
I just talked to Chari again and she would really be grateful for extra prayers for her headache to go away. Probably most of us have had experience with those severe persistent headaches that cause nausea and interfere with daily life. And she needs some proper brain function in order to plan lessons for next year! ;-)
She asked for intercession from St Denis and St Teresa of Avila
Here is a prayer to St Teresa which I'm going to pray for you all who suffer from persistent headaches, and especially for Chari:
Dear wonderful saint,
model of fidelity to vows, you gladly carried a heavy cross following in the steps of Christ who chose to be crucified for us.
You realized that God like a merciful Father chastises those whom He loves--- which to worldings seems silly indeed.
Grant to Chari relief from great pains if this is in line with God's plan. Amen.
