Have you all rushed to your libraries for Mother Teresa by Demi? I cannot believe that this book has been around for a year, and I have just found it now. It even has a papal blessing for Demi on the back. It is going to the top of my India page.

I'm proud to say this book is included as one of the 52 featured books in the Catholic Mosaic.
I was leery about including it until I saw it. It's very well done and can be a teaching tool for all ages.

Oh yes, my sister gave a copy to all the families this Christmas. It's FABULOUS!
I'm happy to hear it's in your book, Cay. What foresight!

Oooh, I'm so happy to hear this, Cay. Our library doesn't have a copy, but I saw it at B & N last weekend. The educator discount is through this weekend I believe, so I may have to swing back over.
Thank you for the recommendation, MacBeth!

A very dear, former 2nd grade student of mine (who somehow made it to college in just a few years since I can't possibly be that old ) gave this book to my dd when she made her 1st Communion. My student had chosen Mother Teresa for a dress-up biography project in class and has had a special devotion to her ever since. Not coincidently, I had picked this book to give her as a highschool graduation gift.
Big thanks to Cay for introducing Demi to my family!

No MacBeth, you're not the last one to hear. And Blessed Mother Teresa is my HERO, and the one God used to call us to homeschooling. She's my saint that I ask for prayers from every day!
Just put it in my cart at Amazon.

We read this around New Year's when we made an Albanian pie called Lakror (Mother Teresa is of Albanian descent). I was shocked to find it in our library! It's such a beautiful book.
--- whoops, this is not Aisa, this is her mom (stefoodie). i didn't realize she was still signed in.
at any rate -- Macbeth, I love your India page! I've never seen it before and I always go to your site for book and audio recommendations! I'll be sure to link to it for our India studies (and India menus). I'm making aloo gobhi this week!

I loved Demi's illustrations and quotes from Mother Theresa. The Papal Blessing is viewable at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/sitbv3/reader/ref=sib_dp_pop_bc/002 -0163932-1188049?ie=UTF8&pageID=S018&asin=0689864078
Has anyone seen (or purchased) Demi's book Jesus? The picture of The Good Shepherd on the front is beautiful... but no review available on Amazon.

Hey Aisa! Glad you liked the India page. I have a special love for the Indian people--my first teacher was an Indian woman, and she was wonderful. And Indian food is wonderful, too!

Christina,
We have the Jesus book also. It says it is based on the KJV. The illustrations are lovely & each illustration has the appropriate scripture with Jesus' words in red. Also at the back of the book is the Apostolic Blessing from JPII. I don't know if it was for this particular book or for the Mother Theresa book.
Anyway, it is a beautiful book. I'm glad we added it to our library!

We were so blessed to discover it at Borders when it first came out. My eye just fell on it and I remember gasping a little! I did not buy it there, but I ran home and ordered it through Amazon, you can be sure!
What does everyone think of Demi's other children's "biographies"?
God bless,
Nina

I just noticed yesterday at Blockbuster that there is a movie with Olivia Hussey as Mother Theresa.

It was on the New Release shelf but the decentfilms.com site says it is a 2003 release. Maybe the distribution was held up.

The movie was very good,(I think we saw it late last year) in Brisbane, Australia. They showed it at the normal cinemas - we couldn't believe it!!
Then at my home cinema they decided to have 10am showings for a week only a couple of months ago - maybe people had asked for a repeat.
I don't know whether that is normal in the US or not but that sort of thing is not normal here in Australia (except for the Passion, that was on of a kind sort of thing.)
My children loved it in particular and it was a unique for them to see a Saint-to-be on the big screen. We were just hoping that they would have shown the St Therese movie too but I suppose that it is unlikely, now it is on DVD.
By the way, I saw Demi's book at a homeschooling camp in April for the first time and I wrote it on my wish list at the time - looks fantastic.

I just purchased the DVD without seeing it based upon my respect for Olivia Hussey. Not only was she my favorite Virgin Mary, and Juliet, but if some of you remember, she played the noble wife of a Polish patriot in the Holy Father's play, made into a movie "The Jeweler's Shop".
It is so difficult to play the role of such a widely televised personality, but I think she captured Mother Teresa very well, and the film included some of Mother's spiritual insights. I especially liked when Mother is suffering from spiritual darkness, and offers it to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
I was unaware of the terrific struggles Mother had with bureaucracies such as the Indian government, and the Vatican. They neglected to mention that she DID get her home within the Vatican walls.
Considering that it wasn't made by persons of faith, it's an edifying film, and I would reccommend it.
