I Looooove My Little Artist by Donna Green....I gave it to my twin dds (who love art) several years ago...it was a very special gift. It talks about seeing the world around you with "heartsight"
This is a PRECIOUS living book.
God love you!

I came across The Button Box at our local library about 5 years ago, and absolutely loved it. It's a tender, very simple little story about a young boy going through his grandmother's box of saved buttons, and recalling the stories that go with them (or making up his own!)
I don't (yet!) own this book, and was recently dismayed to find that our library had gotten rid of its copy. My kids love our button box, and we use it for so many things (it's great for math concepts, pretend play, creating stories and, as long as they're not too precious, crafts!)

We like God's Little Flower by Chris Driscoll and my favorite St. Patrick story is by her as well.
I also really the Saints and Friendly Beast series and I have noticed that Neuman Press is reprinting a few more older saint stories with black and white drawings about St. John Bosco and St. Margaret, and St. Catherine of Alexandria.
As for my favorite secular book-Roxaboxen from FIAR 4.

I know I already voted, but...
We also really like Angelo by David Macaulay. It is also a FIAR 4 book.
My 15yo son who never cries when we read a book (and teases me for crying) cries every time he reads this book.
Maggie, I don't know why we always like the ones that make us cry, but you are sure right...we do.

Someone already mentioned Boxes for Katje, so I'm going to go with The Cats in Krasinski Square.
