Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Uggh, rodents are the worst.

Here in the Keys we have two protected rodents the Key Largo Wood Rat and the Key Largo Cotton Mouse. At our favorite outdoor pub, they used to feed the darn Rats peanuts which they stopped before I got here. But one night late a rat jumped down onto my shoulder and onto the table hoping for a handout.

This pub is right next to a Marina and lots of the rats moved onto the boats. No poisons, traps etc...can be used to remove them from your home. People were not pleased as they chew through teak and fuel lines. Destructive little buggers. But better than the invasive Gambian Pouch Rats which weigh in at 9 pounds, stand upright, and fight the local raccoons and feral cats.

What sort of snake should I use to combat these critters? How about this 8’ 6” Boa captured in the Florida Everglades.

No.
Our cat plays with acorns...rolling them around with her paws, tossing them into the air and batting at them, carrying them in her mouth like a cricket...Weird cat.

Yuck, yuck, yuck. Why can't you use poison or traps? Because it might go into the water? How can they restrict what you use in your home like that? Rats...bubonic plague and all, give me the willies.

I'm answering my own question. Who was the moron that made those rodents protected?

You got it, Jenn.

Funniest thing is they are making habitats for the Key Largo Wood Rat up by the Crocodile Sanctuary by piling up trashed Jet Skis. Beautiful wooded hammock with a pile of protected trash for protected rats.

Crazy old world, isn't it?

Awww! I think they are very cute, but then, I do have a soft spot for mammals. I am not sure I'd like them to dine with me, however!
