Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Love the flower pictures. My daffodils are usually poking through by mid Feb. The are nowhere in sight yet.

Fake blood...my kids would love that.

Off to go make my practice quilt block.

It is a beautiful Saturday here! We are soaking it up before the expected reversion to winter-like weather tonight and tomorrow.

Wishing all a blessed weekend!

My middle school and high school kids had an opportunity to go see Matt Fradd speak today. They're not home yet. But it made for a quiet day at my house.. and that was nice.. just one little meeting where people were all enthusiastic about the topic after Mass and then I was done for the day. Even got a little nap. Last week was soooo busy I needed this.

That is crazy, Nancy. Sorry to hear the winter reversions for you in the East. It is a predictable part of March and April in Colorado but your area - that is so strange. We are actually expecting 70 degrees tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day.

Oh and Happy St. Paddy's to all!

We have 6 inches of snow at our house. No St. Patrick's Day dancing for us today! (I am sad; we were going to a child care center, a school and a senior center...we've had a busy dance week, but senior centers are my favorite places for dance-outs.)

12 inches of snow here and it's still coming down . We live on the side of a mountain. We've been here 10 years. I've never seen snow in March. Today is the 18th day local schools are closed for weather this winter.

Whoa -- it's raining and cold and nasty here to the south in NC, but no snow, thank goodness. I'm sitting by my fire with my sleeping dog -- kids are sleeping in a little, but I'm going to go shake them again in a minute. We do fairly minimal school on Mondays, because it's YMCA Gym and Swim day. This seems like a good day to play in the gym and then spend an hour swimming in the indoor pool. Helps blow off some of the cabin fever. And I get time to come home and write while they're thus engaged.

(It's taken me long enough to join this game -- been engaged elsewhere!)

Sally

Anyone else sit down dinner of corned beef last night and have one of their kids stare at their plate perplexed and ask "where's the corn"?

My kids crack me up.

We had roasted kielbasa and potatoes for dinner. Half-Irish!

I lived in Ireland, but that didn't improve my opinion of corned beef and cabbage.

Potatoes, now...THOSE I like!

For St. Patrick's Day we ended up on a snake rabbit-trail since we found one waiting for us on our steps when we came home from running errands. The children found it fitting.

We have a birthday later in the week and that child requested the corn beef and cabbage for their birthday. As it turns out we'll be celebrating their birthday on St. Joseph's Day and it appears that Italian food is traditional for that... so we mixed them up..

We had Lasagna last night and Wednesday we'll have corned beef and cabbage.

Anybody cooking anything special for St. Joseph's feast today?

We always do pasta with breadcrumbs to represent the saw dust in a carpenter's workshop.

My mother has invited us over for pizza this evening, so that is as "Italian" as we will get. But now we will think of the parmesan cheese as saw dust; thanks for the inspiration, Melinda!

I picked up a frozen lasagna and cream puffs this morning.
I'll probably toss a little extra parmesan on it...

I am thinking something pasta-y as well. I'm terrible - it's 1 PM an I don't know what is for dinner (rarely...). We will include the baguette of bread and the bottle of wine we had blessed this morning at our group St. Joseph altar.

Not my favorite either...glad there isn't Irish in the family, as I don't feel obligated to serve it...

Very cool...love those "coincidences." Speaking of snakes, my son thought that smoked rattlesnake meat would be a good dinner on St. Paddy's Day. Hmmmm, not sure where I would get that. Have to look into it for next year.
