Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just saw this as well... and now is the hour of the funeral. Many prayers being said for you now, and will continue to pray for you and your whole family, LeeAnn. I am so very sorry. God be with you.

Today is the funeral.

Please continue to hold LeeAnn and family in your prayers, especially during the Hour of Silence at 2:00 PM Eastern.

Your prayers from across the miles are a great gift, and those of us in attendance at the funeral are so grateful.

We place all our trust and hope in you, Jesus, and in your promise of eternal life.

I've been thinking of all of you today, and especially LeeAnn and the children. My prayers have been with all of you, especially LeeAnn, Fiona, Helena, Ellie, and Ewan.

I continue to pray for the repose of David's soul and rejoice that we have the hope of resurrection in Our Lord. We wait in joyful hope.

My prayers and thoughts are with all of you, Suzanne!

Oh Suzanne,

Thank you for posting that. It was sure obvious watching the slideshow that David had such a love for his family! He really seemed to have a mischievious charm to him, too.

I went online tonight and found a place to leave messages of condolence for the family.

I just left one.

My heart goes out to them.

Can we all pray especially hard for LeeAnn today as it is her birthday?

LeeAnn, may you be blessed beyond measure!

LeeAnn, you have been in our constant, continual prayers throughout this painful ordeal. While praying for you and your dear ones yesterday, I was deeply struck with the awestruck realization of what a profound miracle it is to be connected with one another through the Mystical Body of Christ...making it possible to reach out through time and space, and pray one another Home. Through God's incredible and wondrous gift of the Mystical Body of Christ your beloved David is still a part of your life, in ways you cannot even imagine...perhaps even more present than he was able to be while he walked alongside you here on the face of the earth. Whether in purgatory or heaven, he knows every single thing you are experiencing and has an even greater love for your dear family than ever before, for he has seen the Face of God! May you experience the love of your dear husband and all his prayers for each and every one of your needs, especially today. May the prayers of countless souls reach across the miles, giving you strength, encouragement and peace in whatever lies ahead. Most of all, may you experience the incredible, healing, grace-filled, loving presence of Almighty God today and all the days of your life. LeeAnn, know that you are loved beyond measure, today and always. "Be not afraid"...."Love never dies".

Thank you all, ladies, for your many prayers and words of comfort. I didn't check 4Real at all until Suzanne emailed me about it. How wonderful to know that you all were praying for us from the first moment. I am deeply touched.

The services for my husband David--vigil, funeral Mass, burial--were each wonderful, beautiful, poignant, even joyful in their own way. Each one a profound spiritual experience.

Our lives are changing--how could they not?--it is not what I had planned or hoped for, but I trust in God's greater wisdom and planning.

I miss my husband every moment but I know that we are separated only for a while, however long that may seem on this side of heaven, but it is not forever.

What does the future hold for my little family? I am open to God's will in all things and am waiting and praying and trying to listen carefully.

The kids will go to public school this year...not because I don't feel up to teaching them at home (I do!) but because the comfort of being around friends and teachers and routine and schedules is better for them right now than being on our own alone.

The outpouring of love and help from our parish family, our neighbors, our acquaintances, David's coworkers and fellow rowers, has been amazing. I believe we are here where we live for a purpose and that part of our future going forward is to remain here and maintain those relationships.

I wish I could share with you just the right words for all that is in my heart...Servant2theKing has it correct...never was the Eucharist sweeter than when I realized I am in more perfect communion with my earthly beloved when I receive Jesus in Holy Communion now than I ever was when David lived.

God bless,
LeeAnn

LeeAnn, your words touch my heart so deeply.

Please allow me to share with you and everyone else a story I learned from Dr. Tim O'Donnell, who was my high school religion teacher and is now at Christendom College. His oldest daughter, Mary Colleen, was born while he still taught at my high school. Many years later I learned that she chose a cloistered convent in response to God's call. I heard Dr. O'Donnell's thoughts on this separation from his oldest child at a Theology on Tap session a few years ago (yes, I'm too old, but we went anyway). He talked about his sadness...his beloved daughter would be hidden from sight...and how she set him on a more joyful path. She told him she would be with him always, as they received Holy Communion together-yet-apart at Mass...just the way Jesus planned it from the beginning.

LeeAnn, you will always be in my prayers. I am thankful you have found a stable plan for your family for this school year.

It is a privilege to pray for you and your family. I am humbled by your witness to the rightness of God's plan. I hope that, in some small way, it helps you to know that my family is praying for yours.

My deepest love, prayers and condolences for you and yours.

I met you briefly at the conference last spring, so the hurt feels a little close to home.

May God's grace be abundant on your family...

Dear LeeAnn

I have been praying for you since I read your very sad news, but have not been able to write anything as words seem so very inadequate.

Our family is praying every day for you and your family.

I am crying tears for you, LeeAnn. I am just so, so sorry. During the prayer intentions at our Mom's Ministry group (about 40 women), I asked for prayers for your family. I sensed the shock and sorrow in each of them, even though they (nor I) know you personally. Several of them have gone through tragedies of their own, and I know that they held the intention particularly close to their hearts.

May Mary's compassionate arms wrap around you and your family as you mourn. Our Lady of Sorrows, Pray for Us.

I've been trying to post an adequate response to your beautiful post, LeeAnn, but words just fail me. Please know that we continue to hold your family close in prayer at this time.

Here are a couple pictures of the kids when they visited David's gravesite for his birthday on October 15. .

He is buried close by so that can visit often. LeeAnn is hoping his permanent marker will be in place by Thanksgiving.
