Yes. And if you want to borrow the teacher's manual from me to get a sense of the whole program. Feel free. :) It has three sample weeks in there, so you could try it out first.

... and you might check the public library for the "tm" ... I know the couple of library systems I've been in (Denver, Prince Wm and F'burg) all have a copy ... that might save some money ... (so you can buy more other stuff! )

I was just wondering a few months on how you are all feeling about WWE? And for those who were deliberating whether to buy or not did you?

I bought this in the hopes of using it this year with my 2nd and 5th graders. I have to admit I returned it. It was too scripted for me to use with my 2nd grader. For my 5th grader we found it difficult to start at the last level. She wasn't used to the formats.
I ended up going with English for the Thoughful Child and Lingua Mater 6. (my oldest admitted she is starting to enjoy this after 6 weeks)(she had used Voyages in English for the previous three years).

We are actually liking it quite a bit. I did buy the workbook for my dd for this year. She really likes it. We only really use it for the dictation selections, but there are a couple of weeks that we have used the whole week as laid out. Week 5 was about poetry, so we used all 4 days. She narrates whatever literature she's reading 2x per week anyway, so I count that as her narration for the program.
We use First Language Lessons and the 2 dovetail off each other nicely. For instance, in First Language Lessons, we are covering possessive adjectives. The WWE dictation exercises this week emphasized this concept as well.
It's working for us.

I'm still enjoying it. Although I have to admit to being a bit of a pregnant psycho. Last year I took the whole workbook part and three hole punched everything to make it easier to copy for the kids from year to year. The student pages were perforated, but the teacher pages were not. And then it seemed cumbersome to have them in a big notebook and sit on the couch and read and ask question. I really wished the teacher workbook pages were the same size as the Hardback Teacher's Manual... so I shrunk them. And stuck Level 1& 3 teacher pages in an old 5 1/2 x 8 planner. It's so much easier. I photocopied all the boys pages put them in the weekly file folders (ala Dawn style) and it's solved all snaffoos.
I have many doctor's appointments, so some weeks instead of doing a 4 day system like they lay out, double up and do the narraton and the dictation on the same day.
I didn't finish last year, so I'm using Level 1 with my second grader and level 3 with my fourth grader. I own level 2, but don't own level 4. Undecided whether I would do level 4 next or IEW or Bravewriter. But WWE is getting to be a system, so I may stick with it.

You're my hero, Maryan!! Gotta love a girl who isn't afraid to disassemble a book and 3 hole punch, copy, shrink, file and generally re-organize it to WORK BETTER!!!!
OK...back to the regularly scheduled discussion!
