Jenn -- great minds think alike -- I was just wondering about the other day. How is she Elizabeth and is there anything we can do? Of course, we're praying.....but, y'know, tangible?

Below is the canonization prayer for John Paul II. Our dear Papa knew the pain of losing a mother as a child. He will look so tenderly upon the dearest desire of Jacqueline, Liam and Maggie--the desire to open those books for years to come with their mommy present. Please pray with me for a miracle:
O Blessed Trinity, We thank you for having graced the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care, the glory of the cross of Christ, and the splendor of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him.
Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you.
Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints.
Amen |

I was thinking this might be a particularly good time of year to storm heaven for a miracle through the intercession of Pope John Paul II. Do you all remember last April 2 weekend as vividly as I do? Such a mixture of sorrow and joy. A small miracle took place in our family in the days between JP's death and the election of Benedict, and we believe it was due to JPII's intercession.
I don't know how Nicole is doing these days, but she has been on my mind.
I don't know if it's appropriate to say a novena to a person who is not a canonized saint, so I won't do that formally, but I will try to bump up this topic every couple of days so perhaps we can use this anniversary to beg our Pope's intercession for healing for Nicole.

Nicole is completely bedridden and in perpetual pain. She struggling between accepting that she is going to die and being afraid that to accept it will mean that she is sealing a death sentence. On May 12th, doctors will attempt a chemo emobolism to hopefull blast her liver with chemo. Then, there is another rarely-used last ditch effort that they may attempt. She is so tired and in such pain. Please pray for her. Pray for her husband, who cannot discuss with her the possibility that she will die. And pray for her children.

When Aidan Ryan was very sick, we sent him a spiritual bouquet. I'd like to do that for Nicole. If you are praying for Nicole, please reply on this thread. I will cut all the responses apart, decorate them with floral stickers and put them in a pretty floral envelope. And then I'll get them to her. They are leaving for Baltimore on the 11th, which is Wednesday, so I'd like to have all the prayer promises by Monday evening. Remember, her husband will be reading them to her and he is truly in need of knowing that God is with him as well. This is an opportunity to comfort, to witness, and to pray.

Nicole,
You and your family have been in my daily prayers ever since I first heard about you. Rest assured that my prayers will continue for as long as you need them.

"Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power."
Ephesians 6:10
"Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you. "

Nicole,
You and your loved ones are in my family's prayers, especially during our family Rosary each night. May Our Lady wrap her loving mantle around you and give you comfort and her Son's peace as you bear your cross.
