Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Prudential decisions are those for which the Church gives general principles and guidelines to base decisions upon but does not give specific obligations or directives and leaves the decision-making to the individual or married couple to discern, ideally based on a well-formed conscience and through prayer. Every faithful Catholic has the right and responsibility to use his and her properly informed discernment process.

It makes sense that discussion about private matters is most appropriately held in private, between wife and husband and if necessary, with local and trained help to include the help of a priest. When private and personal concerns become public, they are likely to devolve into a public and impersonal debate between two polarized views. When one needs personal care, having a private conversation is most appropriate.

For the purposes of this ministry, we discourage discussion of polarizing topics that ultimately come down to prudential decisions made between a wife and husband. Because of the nature of these topics, moderators have no recourse to Magisterium obligations and directives, therefore no conclusive helping is possible. Plus, when two polarized views are debated, we can present false dichotomies that are confusing, judgmental, and misleading. There are ways to discuss topics that lend themselves to polarized debate while avoiding potential misunderstandings and hurt. In order to maintain a spirit of Christian charity in these discussions, members must assume the best of one another's words and intentions at all times.

We can ask practical living questions and expect practical living replies in return. We can ask for help specifically from those who share our specific experience without inclusion of or explanation for those who don't. We can also share with others how a particular prudential decision has brought joy to us, our family, or our home education. Some topics require a level of humility and otherworldliness in order to understand the Catholic perspective and Catholic nuances. These topics can be discussed at Hidden Treasure with the understanding that Catholics discuss these issues with the Mind of Christ and the Heart of Mary.
