Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks for the welcome, Celeste and Mary M. Unfortunately, we lost the baby last night (11/12). I'm still looking forward to learning from everything here, but we'll have to wait a little longer now before we can put anything into practice.

Oh, Layla... ...I'm so sorry! This is not an easy road at all! You are in the right place though dearest! There are many here who know this pain. Many! I will offer prayers that Our Lady will tenderly comfort you as you stand next to her at the foot of the Cross offering back in love. May God's tender mercy comfort you as you seek refuge and trust in His plan - even when it's so hard to understand!

Don't be a stranger! Y'know...I was reading and collecting home education books and materials LONG before I had children, too!

Hello! Thought I would introduce myself....
My name is Lynette and I live in Michigan with my wonderful DH and 2 kids--ages 7 (boy) and 9 (girl). This is our first year homeschooling and so far so good. Previously, both were in our local Catholic elementary school. I felt called to give HSing a shot. Although I feel little niggles of fear-- overall I see only blessings.

We use an assortment of programs:CHC LA and spelling, SOTW history, Classic Science, Rosetta Stone spanish, MCP and Saxon math. This is my trial year to see what the kids already know and what different curriculums are like. I already know of a few changes for next year or possibly sooner.

I have lurked for 2 years now and really feel like I "know" many of you! Thank you for all the great advice and ideas.

Have a great Thanksgiving,

Lynette

Layla, you and your husband have our condolences. May God grant you the peace you need.

Welcome, Lynette! I'm new here 4Real - but from what I have seen this is a great forum to learn about different approaches. I especially love the search function for items that might get lost under headings.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hello, My name is Colleen and my friend recommended this site. I am very excited to find this group as my family will be moving from Michigan to Orange County right after Christmas. I belong to a great homeschool support group here and will definitely miss all my friends here. javascript:AddSmileyIcon('')

On that note, I am wondering about tips or recommendations for home educating in California or any info on social or support groups in Orange County. (is there a good place to post this kind of question? sorry, I'm just a newbie javascript:AddSmileyIcon('')

I have a boy, 9, two girls, 7 and 5 and two more boys, 3 and almost 2. We are all excited about the new adventure God has prepared for us and would appreciated any prayers for our move.

Welcome Colleen! Wow - Adventure is right. I hope that you have a great time with such a big move! The children are old enough to have fond memories of the whole bit.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone!

My name is Chris and I am happy to be among you all! My husband and I married just 12 short years ago and God has now blessed us with three amazing little girls. The oldest of whom was born 5 years ago. She became a big sister almost 3 years ago, and now we have our newest treasure, who is 7 months old.

I feel blessed to have known that we would homeschool our children because it's prepared me (somewhat) . The past couple of years I've been reading a lot about Charlotte Mason and Ruth Beechick and am quite drawn to that style of education, though have yet to really test the waters. I try my best to make each day, and most opportunities, learning opportunities. But most of all, I'm happy to surround myself with all of you and am happy to be here. I'm learning, right along with my children.

Chris

Chris, you are so fortunate to have this figured out early! Welcome!

I'm new, too, and have found that searching for a keyword is my easiest way to go to an idea that I am looking for. I've really enjoyed especially the writing threads and am interested in Math next month.
