Not much going on here today... some school this morning. I sent the girls outside for an hour while I sat and made goo-goo faces at the cranky baby. They came in no less than 5 times saying "It's too hot. It's too humid" (LOL, our thermometer says it's only 4 degrees hotter outside than in ). It's gonna be a looooong summer.
Not sure what we'll do with the rest of the afternoon, although it's cut short by 8yo's last softball game of the season (and her career, she says )

Happy Birthday, Theresa.
We stayed in our pjs until 10 AM...again. Children did a little catch-up on school work.
Read some of our new picture books.
I'm headed to the store to find a bridal shower gift then we have ballet.
There's also a Mother's Night Out tonight. Might go.

Happy Birthday, Theresa!
I met three mom friends for coffee this morning, went to the health food store for supplements and to Trader Joe's. The older kids have piano practice at 12:15, Karate at 4:00, and a piano recital at 7:00.
I picked up some frozen orange chicken at TJ's for a quick-to-prepare dinner between Karate and recital. It's really good--my oldest ds says it's his favorite food ever!

Leonie,
It's very tasty! My dad used to make something similar from scratch, but I just don't have the time to cook like that with the little ones underfoot. This recipe looks like it would be quite similar to the Trader Joe's version.

Happy Bday! (belatedly, lol)...
Today I've gotten a load hung on the line and dried, folded and it is in the process of being put away. Folded another load of laundry, washed another one (waiting on the basket to be emptied so we can load up the wets into it....)
Moved the chicken tractors closer to our sheltered area so that we can put them in there tonight before the storms hit-fed, watered them too (considering we have 2 geese, 3 ducks, a turkey, 22 chickens in ONE tractor, and 44 chicks in another, well, its a lot...lol).
FInished spreading the packing boxes and straw on row of potatoes. Going to finish the rest this afternoon before the storms hit, hopefully. I got the middle row done, but I need to do the two "outside" rows....
Fed the dog
Remaining on the list for today:
-Hang wet laudry on the line, get it done, folded and put away
-unload the dishwasher (its already been run, I just need to unload and put away)
-break down more packing boxes and spread some more of the straw over them before the rain hits
-taking care of the chickens before the rains hit
-getting some more books shelved during the rain (since I won't be working outside, lol).
And that's outside of the usual every-day stuff (the birds are an everyday thing, but we really had to haul them a good ways towards the good shelter).
DH has a drs apptmt in OKC (about an hour, hour and a half drive ea way) and then he has to work this afternoon-tonight.

Ugh. Add fixing the roof onto my list. We've gotten some really strong winds here the last couple of days (really want to get some larger trees...STAT! LOL to cut the wind from slamming into the house)...and it has loosened up a bunch of shingles. DH got home from his apptmt, and then had to clean up, eat lunch, and go to work...so he couldn't really help. He did help me get the rest of the packing boxes broken down and put between the rows of potatoes, but I spread the straw, hoed 2 1/2 more rows in the garden, cleaned up the tools, came in and started his lunch, made lunch for the girls, fed the boys, changed their bedding, put them back to bed, then went out and climbed a ladder, with a caulk gun full of roofing cement/tar...Finished that, but hadn't finished the roof, so I had to go get the hammer and roofing nails. Spent another hour or so on the roof getting that done. Hopefully I got all of them...
Yeahhhh. I'm tired. Did get oldest dd to unload the d/w. Still have to move the chicken tractors to the shelter. But the dds are all outside while the weather is good, and I am sitting in the family room, in my recliner, chillin' with a glass of ice water.
SIGH.
Now I need another shower. And I have that lovely "rash" feeling on the backs of my legs, knees, etc, from the roofing shingles, and tar on my hands, inside one elbow, and knees...
Ugh.
Hopefully, this will "do"...
Rachel

I am late coming to the party but I would still like to play.
Happy Birthday, Theresa!
This entire week was full of chaos and today was no different.
My ds has started seeing a reading specialist this week. She came to us today for the second time this week. She gave me the results of her assessment with my ds and gave me resources to help him with his reading. She thinks he needs vision therapy. My head was spinning from all of this information.
I then left the kids with their dad and went to the dr.s. I have an infected bump on my head. They had to cut it and drain it on Mon. I have been going to the dr.s every day this week (an hour drive one way) to take out the packing and (today) have the bandage taken off. The good news is that they didn't have to cut my hair to get the bandage off so I only have to wear a hat for a few more days until the cut heals because it looks horrible.
I went home, picked up my oldest and went back to town (another hour one way) for swimming lessons. This was her last lesson and she failed. This is the third time she has failed this level. I had to deal with her meltdown in the van. Oh, I forgot that I had to deal with my ds's meltdown earlier because I told him that I didn't have the energy to take him to soccer tonight.
When we got home, I looked at dd's previous reports from the same level. I noticed that all of the things that she did not get marked off on her card were things that had been marked off on her previous cards. So I phoned the pool and they said that considering all of this then she did indeed pass her level. So we celebrated by having ice cream cones and popcorn for supper. (I know, bad mama, but I am just too tired right now to care.)
All I want to do right now is read and then go to bed.
Tomorrows day looks like I will be going back to town, finishing up this weeks laundry that should have been done on Mon, cutting the grass and finish potting my flowers (that should have been done last week.)
Sorry for this being soooo long, but my day has been this long.
Blessings,
Julia, who feels much better after writing this out.

Well, it's Friday, so meatless meals. My younger kids are spending the night at my mother's, and will be delivering Meals on Wheels with her this morning. The For Sale sign goes up in our yard today (only about 3 months later than I had anticipated -- we had LOTS of projects to finish in this house), and we'll be moving some boxes and other minor clutter to the attic in hopes that maybe someone will come SEE said house this weekend. That's the a.m.
Kids will return around lunchtime, after which we will go to a friend's to swim in the afternoon. Home for dinner, then baths, stories, prayers, bed.
No idea WHAT we're going to eat for lunch and dinner, mind you . . . well, we still have a beans/rice/cheese casserole thingy left over from the other day, so I imagine that that will figure into things somehow.
So, that's my plan for today . . .
Sally
