I have just been talking to Chemai today and Tues are her ultrasound/appointment days at the hospital. Due to her diabetes, little Augustine is not so little any more! He is 31.2 weeks and is now weighing 5pounds a big jump in just a week as he was under 4pounds last Tue, Chemai thinks that this is now a concern for the health staff.
Also, after having many good weeks of the cervix retreating back, it has now deteriorated to the second worst reading to date, 1cm (when it should be 5cm) oops...1 inch is about 2and half cms, to give an understanding of that measurement.
Tomorrow Chemai will go back to find out what this news of Augustine's weight really means for him and I will update again.

Thanks for the update, Anne. You are an amazing friend.
I think Chemai can have hope, and feel peace with how things transpire at this point; it was very relieving to hear she is so far along. Tell her I had my son at 32 weeks, and he was breathing on his own, didn't need a ventilator, and would have only been in the NICU for a short stay if it hadn't been for his CF complicating things.
It's not ideal, but if she does need to deliver early, Little Augie should be fine. My guy (besides his CF) is perfect and his suffering had a purpose, for sure!

Prayers from here! I hope they are considering steroid injections, especially since her diabetes could keep the baby's lungs from developing at the normal rate.

Thank you so much for prayers, Chemai is so much in need of them at present. She has had one of the most difficult days to date, today, even though she handles these things with greater grace and composure than I would.
She is still trying to get her diabetes under control under the most difficult of circumstances, with a communal kitchen two floors down and a rigourous routine of eating, injecting, testing.
I sense also that more continuity of care would be a far more ideal situation but in such a big hospital, it is hard to receive it. It is hard to have doctors/care givers looking at files for the first time, trying to sum things up in less than a minute and then start advising on your situation that is just so delicate. Even her main care givers who do know her situation well, can differ on important matters, I can't imagine the frustration of it all.
We are praying particularly that Augustine is not being too adversely affected by the health issues that have now presented themselves and that he stays well and that he comes in God's perfect time.
