I did wonder about this yesterday. What about when the crayon is only half as high? Should we be making these pockets big enough for fingers to go in and fish the crayon out?
Matilda? Can you get a half crayon out of yours easily?

My internet service is spotty right now, so I hope this gets through.
Right now all of the crayons in my pouches are full size. I replaced the two middle ones with nubbins about an inch, maybe an inch and a half, and pushed them all the way into the pocket. They were hard to get out but not impossible by squeezing them up from the bottom. No way could you put your finger in their to dig them out. (My pouches hold 12 regular sized crayons each.) But...
the thing about the felt, which I wouldn't have anticipated, is that if you insert a nubbin only part of the way into to pocket and leave a little sticking out, the felt "grasps" onto it and it doesn't slip the rest of the way down. I even tapped it on the table to see if I could jar it loose and make it slip, but the pockets are tight enough that it holds it right where you put it.

I just got home from the grocery store and checked in. My, my, my--you've been busy!
Those are so cute! I've got the placemats, but I just need the quiet time to get them made. The boys will flip over those!
