Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

See?? I'm not the ONLY one...

At least you have an excuse, Jenn!

I think you have several excuses, different ages, running around you.

Boy, do I know that feeling!! I keep wishing for a fairy godmother to buy all the books I want, and now the atrium and Montessori materials I want, too. Couldn't I find some distant relative to leave me money?

Baskets of clean laundry have finally ben emptied by dh. He was too tired of tripping on them.

Thank you.

I just had to run to the grocery store for some necessities (another area where I failed ). I just found out that Heartland granola cereal is still being made (I was at a different store than usual). I just got a wave of nostalgia. This was my breakfast cereal as a child for many, many year. Box looks a little different, but it still has the man reaping the wheat.

My mom was a bit before her time in health foods. Adelle Davis anyone?

Well...good, I think! People seemed to be pretty pleased and happy with it. So, I am glad about that.

Thank you for asking . It has been a stressful few weeks leading up to it!

Oh, I am glad you thought so! We did too. When I first read the recipe, I was skeptical, but figured I would give them a try anyway...and I am glad I did!

Well, I'm tired, not bored. Had a big shindig for my 12yo on Friday so I'm completely wiped out (but in a good way). I spent the whole weekend writing the end-of-the-year reports and ed. plans for the school dept. (due on the 15th). I'm also trying to work on my conference talk, but really need to focus on the ed. plans till they're done.

To give me quiet time, Bill took the boys bike riding around a lake yesterday and today had them cleaning the basement and then running under the sprinklers to cool off. (Better him than me! ) Not surprisingly, they're all pooped too!

Let's see what else?

Didn't fold a speck of laundry.

Reading - I'm also catching up on my HP before the new one arrives and I am also reading Nancy Brown's new book The Mystery of Harry Potter: A Catholic Family Guide. Good stuff.

Plans for Wednesday's feast - none yet, but it also happens to be my hubby's b.day so I'd better focus on that aspect of the day first.

Well, that does it for me. Off to dreamland, my friends - have a good night!

Well,
I am tired. I have spent the whole weekend shopping. We are heading to the Dominican Republic at the end of this month. That means that I need to make sure my kids have something decent to wear- flip flops and shorts don't do over there I need some clothes to- I hate shopping. It used to be that I could wear anything and look good. Not so anymore. Kind of depressing (sigh)

I was thinking in coloring my hair but chickened out. I was going to do it myself but I am afraid, AND I am too cheap to go to the beauty shop. Should I do it or not? big decision ( another sigh)

Let see, what else? Oh! yes we went to see Rataouteille (I'm sure I am not spelling this right). We really liked it. We hardly ever go to the theater. It was nice to see a movie we can ALL enjoy. I can't say the same thing for the previews
Not one movie worth seeing is coming up (IMO)

I should be ordering my school stuff for next year but haven't done it. I have been working in a translation to Spanish of a popular bible study and it is a lot of work. It is difficult to work and tend a house. How do you writers and bloggers do it?

Anyhow, hope you are not bored anymore!

If all else fails, drive to Blockbuster! (In the pouring rain, of course, but well...you know.) I am now (1) DVD of High School Musical(the uncracked version) and (1) DVD of Miss Potter() the richer.

Both of which I plan on getting to...just as soon as I catch up on this thread.

Thanks, ladies. You cheered me up!

I want to hear what you all think of High School musical. My dd 9 received it for her b-day in Nov. and to date we have not let the dc watch it. I guess I am a movie snob, and the title alone is setting off alarms. My idea of a movie worth watching is Miss Potter, P&P, Albert and Victoria, Babettes Feast, and Therese! So with that in mind please give us a review!

I am also talking myself out of re-painting my learning room. There is a huge toy bin against one wall in here and there are all sorts of gross stains, dents and marks on the wall directly above it, of course, because everybody throws things into this bin and misses. The stairway that leads to this room was also pretty bad, but I went at it with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and now it looks surprisingly good. I know if I re-paint it it will be the same in 6 months. Sigh...not a very motivating thought! Sorry, Margaret, I just added more boredom to your day. Hope the movies were good?

We're at the intermission point right now and I feel confident in offering the following review: it's cinematic twaddle.

Harmless, but there's nothing there.

And here I've been reading rave reviews for the past--what?--year and a half, bragging up the phenomenal music and proclaiming it the "smash hit of the year".

Ah well. If nothing else it's a culture check.

Oh Margaret! You have such good online friends to indulge you in the doings of the day! Guess what we did? We went to mass. Um...let's see. I washed a ton of laundry. We cleaned. I made chili mac casserole and spinach corn muffins (yum!). Then we cleaned some more. It's too hot to do anything outside, though we have a lot of gardening to do.

Dawn we, too, are tired. Do our boys share a birthday? The older one's birthday is actually 7/6 and the younger one's is 7/7. We had a party Friday too! It started outdoors, but became too hot.

No money to leave you but we are on the same wavelength at present

Natalia,
Do it I just had foils put in my hair for the first time (pre, pre- midlife crisis ) and I look great modest aren't I. Look at it this way, how often do you go to the hairdressers? hardly ever by the sounds of it. So think of how much you have saved in the last months..years. That's what I told myself when I got the bill

Well I am not bored here, let's see.... We have just celebrated three birthdays in the last week, starting with a bonfire last Saturday with about 70 people and culminating with a birthday party for ds8 on Saturday past. I am now in deep clean mode and today I have turned out 4 people's wardrobes, cleaned the school supply cupboard and set up the Montessori cupboard. I have also started the linen cupboard and washed 5 loads of washing. Oh and while I'm working I'm planning in my head what direction our learning will take when we start term 3 in a week's time.

Tina, my ds turned 12 on 6/22 but we had to wait for baseball schedules to alleviate before we could find a party date all his friends could make. Happy Birthday to your Boys!!

Every year, without fail, it rains on my June boy's party (though not usually so dramatically ) ... it's scorching hot on my August boy's party ... and my December boy's party gets squeezed in between all the holiday bustle.

Well, Margaret, here are some of the things I did yesterday.

finished rereading Order of the Phoenix
attended Mass
napped
watched the kids swim in my father's pool
had my father over for dinner
hung out with my dh who didn't receive a lot of attention Saturday night while I was reading

I have a list of summer projects that I'd love to do, but my dh's family visiting, parties, everyday housework and Harry Potter are getting in the way. This is why I'm not blogging much either.

We've been spending the afternoons at the lake near our house. This is our first year to buy our season's pass. We are getting our money's worth.

Also, we keep setting out on trips -- or packing or unpacking for them.

I told myself I would paint a couple of rooms this summer but I think it shall have to wait until August when we have a more stable routine going.

Margaret,
Come to Louisiana. The fig trees are in harvest and it's a battle to see who gets more...us or the birds and wasps.

I've been canning figs all morning...
Wanna jar?

Cay, I would come to Louisiana in a heartbeat to help you put up those figs!

Last night, when Elizabeth "invited" us over for pizza & ice cream, the kids overheard me jokingly tell my husband: We're going to the Foss house for supper.

My day was no longer boring at that point, but it was very loud: Really? Who are the Fosses? Where's Virginia? Really? Are you serious? Really?

I've had my hair colored twice, both just before I saw my family for the first time in (at least) a year. I let that strange shock of hair just above my right temple go gray for holidays, but by golly if I'm going to see my family, my sisters (all but one are four to eight years older than me) can't look younger than I can, can they? You're so right, Erin. I go to the hairdressers probably once per year (when I'm about to see my family ... hmmm ... is there a trend, here?

Oh boy would my sons have flipped for YOUR style birthday party! A BONFIRE!?!? They both have a bit of pyromaniac in them (thus the Backyard Ballistics book is arriving for one of their birthdays late).

The kids are digging through the Playmobil bucket that they retrieved from the garage. I have to go read The Secret Garden now. I let them play because *sometimes* it works out that they act out the stories with the little people.

God bless,
