Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just wanted to add that for fun this evening when Dad gets home, we're going to have a game of CRICKET! Maybe while listening to Buddy Holly and the CRICKETS!

This afternoon we're going to wear cricket masks, hop around, and make cricket music with nail files and combs and whatever else we can rustle up.

How fun and creative, Katie. Thanks for all the great links. I think we are going to delve back into insects a bit having just seen fireflies here this weekend - an unusual and amazing sighting for Colorado.

Another couple of fun cricket additions. This spring we read A Pocketful of Cricket, an older Caldecott Honor Book recently republished. Very cute book. Also this link to Insect Sound World has audio clips of lots of different crickets and cicadas. So if anyone doesn't have their own crickets where they are you can hear them here )click on "Insect Sound"). It's fun to compare the variations in sound. There is also a great article about singing insects as pets in Japan.
