Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Molly, I am on a natural extract like Armour (just a different brand name) I am pleased to hear this has made a difference in your life too.

Radiation knocked it over? I know what caused mine to go over the edge disasterously - I had pluerisy and pneumonia 4 weeks after the birth of Michael and the hospital gave me a nuclear radiation scan to my lungs instead of a chest x-ray! ...still a sore point for me...    I whilst I go into a dip after every birth this was profound and carried on for almost 2 years rather than a few months - if it weren't for the doctor I found mid last year, I'd still be in the hole, I know...   I read that thyroid's are one of the first organs to be effected by poisons and radiation - thyroid cancer is an enormous problem for Chernobyl surviors.

Here is a wonderful link, I highly recommend anyone to have a really good read, it is an enmormous site with many good articles, Thyroid-Info. There should be links to recommended doctors in the US on this site.

The books I recommend are: Mary Shomon (who runs the internet site above) Living Well With Hypothyroidism...what your doctor doesn't tell you..that you need to know and Solved: the Riddle of Illness - they are both eye openers and very informative!

Helen, adrenals that are weak or under pressure can make thyroids troublesome too - I have been taught that I cannot have quality energy coming from my thyroid if my adrenals are under pressure.

Maybe with all the natural stress, adjustment and concerns with your new babies and their number one priorities and high care needs, could be putting your adrenals under pressure and subsequently making the thyroid less responsive?

My doctor put me on a ginseng formula to nourish, heal and lift my adrenal function - I definately did better on them during my low period. I am off it now but if I have a stressful episode, I'll take it again just so my adrenals won't dip because of it. Stressful events when I was sick could lay me low, energy-wise for days or even weeks.

Maca powder is another natural supplement that nourishes both thyroid and adrenals, you could do an internet search on any of these products and their effects on these two organs.

God Bless! Anne

Hmmm ... we've had a head cold going around our family which I hung onto the longest.

But, I have to tell you all (thank you for your prayers) I feel better this morning because I said my morning prayers while walking on the tread mill! If you could help me to persevere, I would greatly appreciate it.

I've been kicking myself for not getting up early to pray by myself. I gave myself a break because of the new baby and low thyroid, which seemed to make sense, and I've been saying my prayers with the children awake and noisy trying to practice conformity to God's Will.

So, I hope to try this new plan. I will still not try to get up much earlier than the rest of my household but I will walk on the treadmill and spend that time in prayer.

oh, and Alice...

Bargemen as a blog banner! LOVE IT!!

I am praying for you....the combination of low thyroid (which, I've heard, can take a while to resolve, even with meds) and a young baby are surely tiring you beyond capacity.

May God bless you with better health and comfort!

Hi Helen,
Just wanted to add in case it is helpful that I have had a VERY hard time getting a diagnosis of hypothyroidism because my TSH was "normal." Although I do have a doctor who has been open to other indicators (i.e. quite a few classic symptoms along with several that, so far, are ONLY attributed to hypothyroidism as well as LOW basal temps -- he is an NFP only doctor, btw) and who DOES believe I have hypothyroidism and is willing to prescribe whichever of the hormone replacements I would like, I have decided to stick with a natural supplement I found that works really well for me. It is called Thyodine and you can get it from www.TheGreenWillowTree.com. If you can't get an adjustment with the synthroid or get the natural hormone, you might want to consider adding this to your regime.
I'm praying for you... I know the feelings!
