Know that I'm praying, Molly. I am sincerely empathetic to you and (I think) know what you are feeling in a tangible way. I hope you feel relief and consolations soon, and receive the grace to find peace and forgiveness (and that the person apologizes and makes amends).
God bless you.

I am so humbled by your prayers. I am really in a hard place still and just so confused as to the right thing to do. We have agreed to sort of "carry this cross" through Lent, by committing it to careful thought (other person) and constant prayer (me) and see where we are after this time of reflection. Yesterday's Lenten reflection was to "forgive someone who has hurt me", but honestly, I'm having more than a little trouble with that. Because I'm RIGHT, right? This is so hard. I've been up many nights praying and searching the bible and I think I know what God wants me to do, but I also feel an overwhelming responsibility to hold this person accountable. I mean, if someone near and dear is doing something contrary to the salvation of their soul, aren't I supposed to do something? And the damage is already done for me, too, because it occupies my every thought and has affected me physcially, emotionally, spiritually, down to my bones. And my "Irish" has a way of clinging to serious hurts, so my "forgive and forget" button sometimes gets broken. Sigh...thanks so much for any continued prayers you can spare. It does really help to know you are praying for me. Thanks for letting me vent a little, too.

Molly,
At our parish mission last night, the priest quoted St. Catherine of Siena. I have been unable to find the exact quote and I was so captivated that I didn't write it down immediately after he said it but by memory afterwards (and everyone knows my memory isn't too good) :
"God's capacity of mercy far exceeds our capacity to sin."
Of course, God is God and we are only human and it's much harder to forgive/forget what someone we love has done to us than someone we can't stand has done to us.
My prayers for you and the situation continue...
