Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers! I believe that those prayers are what kept her from coming over! There was no sign of her yesterday and absolutely no response to either dh's or my messages. I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but yesterday was uneventful! Thank you for the encouragement to hold my ground and set boundaries. I think at this point that my boundaries are going to be very tight and will only interact as briefly as possible at Church.

Victoria, I do think she sees us as similar and would like to build on that, but she has been over to my house enough times to get over any fascination. And I do know that she supports homeschooling but that at this time she is very pleased with the school placement she is in.....maybe what I should have said is that she is very familiar with homeschooling, yet comfortable in her own situation. I think that if she were able to tone her approach down quite a bit it might be easier for me to meet her in the middle. As it is, I am feeling pushed into a corner. And I have actually done some suggesting of a neutral setting for some other things before and that was met with anger from her. But your thoughts of her loneliness and reaching out are what prompted me to try to get a friendship thing to work in the first place....so no, I don't think you are far off the mark here in your observations....my problem is that now I am way out of my comfort zone.

Nina, thank you although I am neither sensitive nor perceptive! Takes a rock over the head to get me to put things together! I'll let y'all know if anything else comes up. I do appreciate your prayers quite a lot, as I think they avoided a situation yesterday!

I did not know she had already been over a number of times.

It is best to trust your instincts and it sounds like you have already tried.

I'm not very good at "boundary" setting. I pray you can do a better job! Dh has, from time to time, been my "rock over the head" to look more honestly at friendships to see when things weren't right.

Ok, if all of that doesn't work, set up land mines. A few toe poppers, and she won't be back. Sort of a "no strange visitor's zone"

Ok, ok, it's not funny. But I've been talking to DH about his job--military stuff...sigh.
