Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Irene,

Didn't I read in another thread that your littlest one is quite gassy? I wonder if it's related? This past weekend we were at a retreat and Maria was SO gassy. Not that it seemed to bother her but boy was she noisy and whew what a smell! A few days later she had a blow out and is now not gassy at all.

It's funny but I was actually thinking of you during the retreat!

Well, I had always hoped that when my friends think of my while on retreat, they would be pondering some theologically brilliant point I had made or some wonderful spiritual insight I had shared, and not thinking of me in the context of gassy babies, but, as Molly said on another thread, "It is what it is."

Yes, my little one is very gassy. And I've been shocked at how stinky the gas can be at times. Since dirty diapers don't get stinky until my babies start eating real food, I had assumed that gas from exclusively breastfed babies wouldn't have an awful smell. But I was so wrong. I wonder if there is a connection between how gassy she is and when she finally has a blow-out diaper. I'll have to keep tabs in the next week or so to see if there is one.

Any tips for dealing with this? Can anyone relate? I find it odd to that my last 3 have been this way but not my first 7. I wonder what I'm doing differently, if anything?

---I am right there with you on this one (10 children, the last three have had this strange bm pattern as newborns). I've been puzzled by it as well. It's actually nice to hear we're not the only ones!
