At 6 pm it is 10 degrees in lovely Livonia, MI! Winds are from the ssw at 24 MPH, putting the wind chill at -10 below 0. I feel like a "meteorologist"! The poor squirrel we saw an hour ago looked like it was freezing. And, for the more nature-minded ones out there, my dss were wondering how the birds stay warm in these frigid temps. We've seen cardinals, plus the assorted small neighborhood birds these past few weeks, and now wonder where they are and how they are doing? Grateful for the warming centers for the city's homeless/heatless, but wondering how the little birds fare.
God Bless,
Stacy in MI
(My dad in Pt. St. Lucie, FL and sister in Clearwater, FL always call to give their "weather reports" on days like this! Of course, I give them a call in mid-summer when we have our lovely and moderate 70 degree days! )

Man, I'm a wuss!! I grew up in upstate NY, but here in VA, anything below 50F is cold to me.
It would be nice with snow, though. Right now, its just cold.
. . . and high of 20s next week. Before the windchill. I know, I know, downright balmy to some of you ladies (my husband just got back from a week in Chicago and was laughing at me today), but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO ready for Spring!!

My front porch thermometer says about 15 degrees here in upstate NY (near Cooperstown). Weather.com says the wind chill is -1.

At 9:47 p.m., Damascus, Maryland is 24 degrees.
And yes, our parish is St. Paul.

Well, I think it has warmed up! It is 11 p.m. and the temp on the deck is only 13 below zero, so with the windchill it is only 20 below zero. I think we are getting a heat wave!

Me too. Only that's why I'm frozen -- I just had to see for myself!

Wow Paula I can't begin to imagine, beyond my comprehension. We are reading Farmer Boy at the moment and they are talking about minus 40 degrees. We were imagining a big walk in freezer only colder than that. Unbelievable!!!
Well I won't tell you the temp. here in Australia, suffice to say it not minus 20.

It's almost midnight here in Rochester NY(Mary K? you live near me!!)and right now it is 6 degrees with a windchill of -14. We are under a winter weather advisory till tomorrow night for high winds. I see that schools are getting cancelled tomorrow. I just hope we still get to go to our homeschool bowling league in the afternoon.

I woke up to a balmy 7 below zero this am--with no wind-- here in NE Ohio.
We returned from FL(where it was 70!) last weekend and I was amazed we were out sledding for 2 hours when it was 10 degrees that Monday. The kids had a blast. Unfortunately, zero(which has been a common number since about Tuesday--without any wind chill) seems to cold for everyone but the dog The dog is bouncing and getting into trouble at every turn, the kids have been bouncing-though 2 hours of roller skating yesterday seems to have helped, and I am at my wits end...help....

Yeah....I'm keeping the thermal lined curtains closed in the living room today even though I REALLY need some sunlight coming in.
