HUGE party at my bil's house. Hopefully we will be celebrating the Bears winning.
Here in Chicago,we like to win. We are praying there are no riots unlike the Bull championships of the early 1990s.
Although, it is totally a wonderful thing to even be in the Super Bowl!
We are all thrilled! Our orange and blue outfits are all ready...we are truly over the top for our sports!
The menu is beer, italian beef sandwiches, cake and too many appetizers to count! Dh says beer is the only thing he needs besides a win.
Ok...I will stop rambling...it is just great to see dh and other family members so happy!
I will have to be a closet Manning fan this weekend. I want to stay married.

Sunday nights are youth group nights for my hubby, so we will be at the annual Super Bowl festivities for youth group. We haven't decided who to root for yet,
we're still mourning the loss of our beloved Saints
I guess, Marybeth, you might recommend the Bears? Our 8 year old has already declared that is who he is rooting
for . It also happens to be my birthday and dh has made arrangements for the kiddees to be taken care of after Mass and reservations for dinner out during the first part of the game! I was really surprised to hear the news, I figured we would celebrate on another day. I can't wait!

We're going to watch this Sunday for the first time in years! And sorry Marybeth, but we're going for the Colts (it's the Bears own fault for beating the Saints!).
I just got the wings to do Buffalo wings, chips, dips, hotdogs, ginger ale and generally having a good time with the kids -- if I plan it right, I can have everything ready, put it all out, and sit and knit through the whole game! Oh, and we're using plastic plates and cups so I don't have dishes either

Dh leaves for Italy. Sigh. I guess a trip to the airport is on my calendar (again!).
Don't know if we'll watch the game...we may watch a bit for the commercials.

My brother went to school in New Orleans for 4 years, so I really have no choice.
The kids love nachos, so even if they're not up for watching the whole game with me, dinner will be a huge plate of nachos and maybe popcorn thrown in too. And they'll get to drink soda.

Oh honey you can't be serious! Anyway I heard a certain someone likes Peyton Manning....not that I'm telling.
Party at my house. Ds came home yesterday with superbowls cups, plates and chip bowls. Oh and a case of Smithwicks!
But honestly I'm not much of a fan of football fan...just that my whole house is and I mean ALL of them. My 10yr. dd can tell you all you want to know.
I'll probably be sewing.

We'll be watching here ALL DAY. You know, pre-game starts at what....DAWN!! I live in a house of men except our new daughter and do you know what the first word my boys taught her was....HIKE! My boys eat, breathe and sleep football.
We'll be having finger foods. No dishes here!

Party at the marina owner's house, she bought a new flat screen for the occasion.
I'll be bringing Spinach Dip, my traditional Super Bowl snack and waiting eagerly for the commercials.
People are on football star alert here, thinking someone would come down and go fishing in Islamorada before the game. I'll tell you quite truthfully, I haven't seen anyone. Of course, I haven't been looking though!

We don't really have plans yet, so I think we will crash this party....

Whatever we do we will definitely be cheering for the Colts. We lived a few years in Indiana - my oldest was born there so I have a soft spot for them.
Oh, and a Super Bowl tradition I have is to bake M&M cookies for the occasion. I make a batch to match each team - for example for Green Bay vs. Denver (and I was rooting for Green Bay!!!!!) one batch of cookies had orange and blue M&M's and the other had green and yellow M&M's. It's a fun snack.

Didn't double check this at cbs.com -- but I'm pretty sure the game starts at 6 pm EST!
Living in a house of boys - with a husband from all boys, we WILL be watching the Super Bowl. My ds 5 even knows football plays - it was the topic over an ENTIRE dinner recently. I threatened Mac-and-cheese-only meals if they didn't vary their topics a little.
My oldest will be cheering for the Colts (me too) - because he likes Peyton Manning and thinks Tony Dungy is cool (he thanked God after the AFC champs )
But my husband heard someone say that the Bears owner was a devout Catholic who gave money to good causes...so my husband instantly became a Bears fan (for Super Bowl only) on that unchecked information!! I'll have to see if I can find a real source on that...MARY BETH -- do you know anything about this rumor?
My other boys will cheer for the Bears because Daddy is.
As far as food...not sure yet. Nachos and the like are high on the probability list. Guests? Hmmmm...not likely since no one really likes to come watch the game with us because dh mutes all the commercials (probably a good habit that he's been doing since he was a teenager). So for that reason and because our guys will be going to bed at halftime, it'd be hard to host guests!

It's our 12th wedding anniversary. My dh has graciously offered to take me to dinner and a movie A friend has graciously offered to watch our dc.
I didn't even know who was playing in the Super Bowl until I read this thread! Fortunately for me, dh is a much bigger fan of college football than of professional.

My dh is having a party at his office (not with the employees) in the conference room because that's where the best TV is. I'll be going for the pre-game food with the dc, then coming home to put them to bed and (hopefully) having an evening alone. No football watching for me.

This is a great idea MaryM -- mind if I use it?
Go COLTS! (Besides their win was so great in the playoff game, they deserve to slaughter the Bears!)

Speaking of Super sunday -- anybody have a sensational Buffalo Wings recipe for cooking 'em in the crockpot? Years ago I had a great one but, after half a dozen moves, I've misplaced it.....

My dh will be on a men's retreat. We know the priest leading it and it should be very wonderful. I'll be saying little prayers for a great retreat for dh and having fun being a bit lazy with the kids and might even watch a bit of the game if there is time.
I did wonder why the retreat didn't fill up like it normally does but now, after seeing this thread, I know why. No real football fans around here. I'm the only one who even likes to watch the game. Comes from spending all that time trying to figure out what it was all about when we returned to the USA - I literally watched one game after another until I'd put most of the pieces together (no one to explain it to me just watching the pile up and the man in the striped shirt run around and whistle and the ball put in different places - and some kicking and trying to figure out what that pile was all about. )
