Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I received a few updates on Kelsey this weekend. By the way, I found out that she is 6 years old. My sister-in-law was able to visit with her and her family at the hospital on Sat. It was a good day for Kelsey in general. They are continuing to test this week and are leaning toward a diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency, which would mean that the vomiting and all are not caused by stomach problems, but are symptoms of the other problem. It'll take awhile for those test results to come in.

A big highlight for Kelsey was that she was able to receive three sacraments yesterday (Sunday). She had her first confession, followed by First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Her mother wrote, "It was very touching, but looking at the pictures has been difficult. We tend to think of white dresses and veils in Churches, not white bed sheets and IV lines. But she was thrilled to receive Our Lord."

Please keep praying!

Latest update on Kelsey - The family is getting very worried and begs for our prayers:

"I'm on the floor computer, asking for you to storm heaven today. K has developed a fever of 102. She is the worse she has probably ever been. She is 37.2 pounds, with all the fluids and the TPN and lipids. Down two pounds since yesterday. For the first time, the diarrhea came during the night. The belly pain has increased.

MRI is negative. They have started blood cultures. The doctors are stumped....waiting on Endocrinology, but it doesn't look like it is Addisons.

The Central line may be postponed, as she isn't well enough to go through the procedure.

Please continue to pray. She looks awful and we are running out of time and ideas.

Whoever was able to contact Fr. Kosciki (THANK YOU!!!), please let him know that she is doing worse, or call us with his number. He called and told us to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet together. . . . He also offered Mass for her yesterday. Thank you. Please pray. We are getting very scared. "

Good news - another update from Kelsey's mom that sounds a lot more promising:

"I just wanted you to know that all of your prayers and sacrifices made a HUGE difference today. There were times this morning that I felt like she could pass away any minute. . . . This evening, she is like a new kid. Really! She is animated and talking and playing. It is crazy that we can switch like this. It doesn't make any sense at all. "

Kelsey's family has started posting updates at Carepages. Just pm me if you'd like the password for her page. There are pictures too.

Kelsey has been doing better in some ways, but she is not getting well. They have moved her from the hospital in Columbus, OH to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Her family is impressed so far by the doctors and hospital. Please pray that they find answers and Kelsey can begin eating again and get well.

The last update I got mentioned that they were hoping to connect with "some good Catholic folks in the Cincinnati area" as they put it, but haven't yet been able to do that. Is there anyone here who lives in Cincinnati who might be able to offer help to this family?

Thanks for your prayers!

Just to update all of you who have prayed for Kelsey, I learned that she returned home last Friday, after over a month in the hospital. They still don't have a diagnosis and she is not completely well. But they think they can treat her stomach problems and pain on an outpatient basis and allow the family to be at home together. They are continuing with all sorts of testing to get to the bottom of this, but it is no longer critical. So this is very good news for them, but they can still use our prayers for a complete recovery. Thanks!

Irene, I missed this before, but am glad to hear that Kelsey is home and doing better. I will keep her in my prayers and hope they find the cause of her illness.
