Lisa,
It's a tricky time of emotion. You're thrilled to have seen a heartbeat and so very worried about the surviving twin. And you're sad to know there was another baby that you won't hold here on earth but you are so grateful that the surviving twin has a very special intercessor. Takes some time to process it all. And just when you think you've got a handle on it, you are reminded of the miscarriage in the midst of the miracle. Know that I'm praying for you.

Lisa -
I'm glad they've identified the reason for the bleeding episodes. It's wonderful to know there is a little one growing well; I am sorry for the loss of the twin.
My prayers for you will continue.
Peace,
Nancy

It is really odd to know that I am miscarrying, but I am still pregnant with a healthy baby. I'm so glad that one baby is okay, but we are losing another baby. Nina, that's exactly what my husband said, TWO souls, and this healthy little one has a twin sibling in heaven, how cool is that??? My emotions are a jumble right now, when I feel excited that my baby is healthy, I feel guilty for being happy because one has passed.

I can't even imagine. I have never conceived twins. I have two friends who have lost a twin but the other hung on , and two friends who have miscarried both twins. And I don't think it ever goes away...the wondering part (what would my twin have been like?) or of course, the devastation at being given two and being so shockingly excited and then, losing ALL. Having both taken. We moms go through so much....
But of course I can semi-relate to that feeling of TOTAL loss and not being able to meet that child as a baby. (If as St. Thomas says, we will be at the age of maturity in the final resurrection of the body...but then who cares? we won't care--- ) Anyway, I'm rambling...
Praying for your peace and health---mentally, physically, spiritually. Health, happiness, holiness!

Lisa,
You must be on an emotional roller coaster! The beginning of a pregnancy can be so hard. What an opportunity to lean on our good Lord though! We will be praying for you!

Lisa, I just saw this. I wish I had seen it earlier. This is exactly what happened to me with the babies, except I lost a triplet. It is absolutely nerve-wracking to be in that situation. My husband was out of town when I started bleeding, I felt like I was having contractions, it was all just so similar to the miscarriage I'd had before... I had to wait all weekend to go in for an ultrasound. And then it was so early I had to have two ultrasounds to confirm that it was indeed twins, not triplets.
Losing a twin is, I think, supposed to be fairly common. But knowing this -- and the terminology with which it is treated "sloughing off", "disappearing twin" -- does nothing for your emotional state. What Elizabeth said is very true. I know that when the babies were born and I was so joyful that they were finally here and healthy, I couldn't help thinking that there should have been another one there with them.
I wrote about it on my blog here: Disappearing Triplet. It helped me process things a little bit.
My heart goes out to you, Lisa. I will keep you and your little ones in my prayers.

Oh Lisa -- prayers here...I just checked to see if you put an update on how your party went, then I came here to see who needed prayers.
What a rollercoaster.
