Update! Well, it's weird, really weird. We have a beautiful 6 week old baby with heart rate of 119, BUT, this little guy is sharing his womb with, what the tech called a 'molar pregnancy'. I am clueless, I'm waitng on the radiologist to send the report to my midwife. I am also trying to hunt down a good OB. I'm lost. I'm thrilled that the little one seems to be thriving, but I have no idea the effect of the other 'pregnancy' on the future of the healthy baby. I have lots of questions to have answered. Please keep praying.

Sounds a little like Elizabeth's last pregnancy, except I don't remember them calling it a molar.
Praying...

Really? Oh I'd love to hear about her experience. Everything I'm reading about molar sounds very grim. It's also very rare, then even more rare to have a seemingly healthy twin, everything seems to say the molar pregnancy usually over takes the healthy pregnancy. I DON'T want to loose this little guy. I'm seriously at a loss right now...

Lisa - I will pray a lot. You need to find a good high risk doctor - did the radiologist tell you to go to a perinatologist? Hope you manage to find a pro-life one.
Hugs

I was 7 weeks and had bleeding. I thought for sure that I was miscarrying. A sonogram showed a healthy pregnancy and then another sac with no heartbeat and what looked like maybe a fetal pole. Because there was no heartbeat, nothing further was done. I got a shot of rhoGam because we have rh incompatibility and there was concern for the twin (who is now called Karoline). Other than that, things were good. I had no further bleeding and everything was resorbed at twelve weeks. No one ever called it "molar." After delivery, the perinatologist said that he was certain it was a twin because Karoline's Coombs numbers were so high (I'm a little fuzzy here on specifics)--the twin loss sensitized Karoline. The only other thing about that pregnancy that was exceptional was that my HCG numbers were clearly in the twin range and remained there a long, long time. They think that's why I had such a hard time with hyperemesis.
If I were you, I'd at least arrange an ASAP consult with a good pro-life OB. Here's a place to start and see if they'll talk to you:
Tepeyac Family Center
God love you! I'm praying hard.

Another update! Midwife just called with the official report from the radiologist. Seems he ruled out a molar pregnancy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! The official diagnosis is that it was a twin pregnancy and one twin "sloughed off" (that was the word he used in the report) There is still evidence of the baby in my uterus and I will likely continue to bleed. I will follow up with another ultrasound in 2 weeks.
But another issue has come up, I'm not as concerned about this, but baby measured at 6 weeks today, so I obviously ovulated later than I though, no biggie, heart rate was 119, the tech had a difficult time even finding heart tones because tbe babe is so so tiny, she stressed over and over again just how itty bitty the baby was and how difficult it was to get a clear view. Seems about right. The tech also said that usually heart rate is 120-160, baby was at 119. I read that anything over 100 at this age is good. But, midwife said she was concerned that it was too slow. Any thoughts on that?
Thank you ALL for your prayers. We simply do not have a pro-life OB in our area or under our insurance. (and my husband works for a Catholic medical organization! )
I have a good referral though, and I will call her Monday morning.
Thanks SO much for the prayers dear friends! Pray for MissyC also, she is at her OB right now, she is aoub 27 weeks and having some blood pressure issues. Bless her heart, she's brining our family some soup for supper.

LIsa,
That sounds like a very familiar scenario. I don't remember the heartrate and I might be able to find the report but, well, I'm not the greatest "finder", but I do remember being somewhat smaller (not a lot) at that seven week sono. All was well at 12 weeks.

Oh, Lisa, I'm so glad it's this and not a molar pregnancy. That's a very serious scenario. I was trying to type up something when my browser locked up, and by the time I logged back on, you had an update, and more accurate eval from the radiologist!
What a relief!
I'll keep praying for you and your little one...

Oh Tami me too!! The first thing I did was google 'molar pregnancy' WHOA! That's some serious business and it really REALLY scared me. But the radiologists ruled that out Thank God. I don't know what the tech was thinking.
Elizabeth, my HCG levels were pretty high too, but at the upper end of normal, and they not only doubled in 48 hours, the tripled!
Thank you all for the prayers, it I can truly feel uplifted by them. Thank you.
