Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can't beat Charles Shaw!!! Hard to believe the price. Although I do not drink much - I do find the whole wine tasting thing fascinating - I lived with a French family and went to college near Bordeaux for a couple of years - and we would often go to the large vineyards for tasting - and I loved the ceremony, inspecting the arches, smelling, swishing and tasting! Even now I love to smell and inspect and take a little sip. We used to go to some of the local Virginia wine festivals before we had kids.

Coffee: Give me Kona!

Alcohol: My "big sister" at college was Jamaican, so rum was the thing back then! I currently prefer tequila--good tequila, or margaritas.

I love good wine, too, and I especially enjoy tastings with friends. And beer. I like beer.

And then there's mead...

Gosh, sounds like I have too much time on my hands. Dh doesn't drink, so I rarely have more than a drink with dinner.

Caffeine: I love both tea and coffee, but much prefer coffee in the morning. Usually, I drink about two cups of half-caf coffee in the morning and have one cup of tea in the afternoon.

I no longer drink soda (only water), but had a Coke with dinner tonight, and it has given me a headache!

Alcohol: None.

This was a fun idea for a thread, Nina!

Coffee - I LOVE coffee, especially Tim Horton's! But, I've developed an intolerance to it - they give me migraines - so I've been caffeine free for a while now. Sadly, the same goes for chocolate and herbal teas.

Alcohol - I don't drink at all anymore for many reasons but I used to enjoy mixed sweet drinks like Singapore Sling and Long Island Iced Tea. And vodka with 7-up (or Sprite). My husband is a complete non-drinker (one of the reasons I married him) and I must say that I really don't miss it.

The coffee though...

Coffee--I love coffee. Really love it. With half & half, or heavy cream. However, after my last pregnancy, it really started to hurt my stomach, so I switched to a high-quality decaf (organic, fair trade whole bean), and I don't miss the caffeine at all. I also love tea, hot and iced. I don't drink sodas at all.

Alcohol--I like it all, Nina. I love a glass of wine with dinner, a beer with pizza, and the occasional sip of John Jameson's. I don't imbibe much, because I'm always nursing, but I do enjoy IT when I get the chance to. Sweet mixed drinks aren't my favorite, but I do like Margaritas!

Coffee -- LOVE coffee, but can't drink it as much as I used to. For some reason in the last 2 years I've been more sensitive to it (would that be hormones???) and can't sleep much if I've had some. Coke in my teens never bothered me either, but now I can only take a few sips. (I do love tea though, and it doesn't affect me as much.)

Alcohol -- the only thing I love is champagne. I'll take red wine or white wine on occasion, but though we've gone through the whole wine tasting/wine festivals as newlyweds, wine hasn't really grown on me. My tastebuds are not that refined that I can tell the difference b/w a $10 and a $100 bottle, so often I think, what's the point? To be honest I like iced tea better though we try to drink wine for the health benefits. I like some mixed drinks like daiquiris and margaritas and pina colada. Can't drink beer - ugh. Oh, but while I can't drink much alcohol, I do *love* to cook with them, so I've got a shelf-ful.

My 2006 chocolate fruitcake is getting very yummy by the day....

Coffee: Two cups, daily. Grind my own beans--I like it strong and rich.

Alcohol: Red wine with dinner. Although we recently enjoyed a wine tasting class and have branched out a bit. Our family took a cruise in November, and there were a lot of rum drinks (I guess it is a Carribean thing). So now my dh enjoys making margaritas every so often. He enjoys English beer (esp. Newcastle). We hav also sampled wheat beer and then there is mead ... (thinks MacBeth).

We just enjoy sampling what life has to offer.

Caffeine: Used to live solely on diet Coke--and I mean solely. Since this pregnancy, I can't stand the sound of carbonation, much less the feel or taste of it. So I sometimes now have a cup of hot tea or big jugs of sweet tea....but often even that is decaf tea. I live on water now...but it has to be ice cold with tons of ice.

Alcohol: Despise beer or malt in any form. Blech! But I love a good white zin, strawberry daiquiri, margarita, etc. My neighbor makes this killer "pink drink" with grapefruit and cranberry juice with a splash of vodka. Those are nice in the summer. But after honeymooning in the Caribbean, and 10th anniversary-ing in Bermuda, I'm often quoting Capt. Jack Sparrow, "Why is the rum always gone?"    Especially that Malibu rum that tastes like coconut....oh my.

Oh well....one of these days I won't be pregnant anymore!

Goodness me...after reading this, it sounds like I drink all the time! If you knew me IRL, you'd laugh to find out I may have a drink 2 or 3 times a year!

Caffeine: No coffee for me. I'm a tea drinker when I have something hot, but my big caffeine vice was Mountain Dew (a huge holdover from High School--man, I just love the stuff ) I've given that up completely because of this pregnancy and the gest. diabetes, so several times a week I'll have a decaf tea.

Alcohol: Not a drinker at all. I did enough drinking in college to last me a lifetime--it didn't agree with me at all, so I haven't drank in something like 12 years!

I don't like coffee, but I like Barq's root beer or a nice sugary cola.

I haven't drank alcohol in over 15 years.

Caffeine: I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do like my Diet Coke when I'm looking for caffeine...and of course chocolate, which has been mentioned.

Alcohol: I wish I liked wine. I've tried it again and again, but I guess I'm not a wine drinker. Charlie just came home today with some three buck Chuck so maybe I'll try again ...If I'm having a drink, a nice cold beer can taste very good though, but my husband always teases me because I usually set it down after a few sips and then rediscover it an hour later when its not so nice and cold.

Caffeine: chocolate, way too much soda, and LOTS of iced tea. And an occasional Starbucks Frapacchino (mostly just in the Fall when they have the Pumpkin flavor. Yum.)

Oh dear. Writing that out sounds awful.

Alcohol: none. I just don't like it, though I have tried so many wines after hearing how many health benefits there are. In my, ahem, younger days I did drink an occasional Malibu Bay Breeze, but I never really liked alcohol very much at all. Dh likes beer, but only (expensive! IMO, anyway) imports, so he doesn't get them very often. Although Whole Foods has a good selection, or so I am told

I love coffee! I've been making it half decaf/half regular. My husband asked why I don't just drink one cup of regular. I'm hooked on my 3 or so cups, so I cut the caffeine. I also love Dr. Pepper but try not to keep it in the house.

Haven't had alcohol in about 19 years. Amazing how many of us have some sort of family history with it.

Beer Snobs
I was a wine-gal until my first pregnancy, then I craved beer all the time! Wierd. and annoying .    DH used to brew-his-own, and loves a good microbrew (lots of 'em here in the northwest) and now I love them too. We'll split one at dinner a couple times a week.

DH claims that he knew he wanted to marry me on our first date for several reasons, one of which was that I was game to have a glass of Guiness with him!

But, I still enjoy a glass of chardonnay and LOVE a margarita, Tom Collins or Gin-Tonic in the summer.

Caffeine: one mug of very strong coffee in the AM with half-half.

Caffeine: Main source is chocolate . I don't care for coffee at all and prefer fruity herbal tea. Coke is a vice for me, but at least I drink it caffeine-free for the most part.

Alcohol: I have a glass of wine every month or two. A handful of times each year, I'll have a yummy frozen drink, like a strawberry daquiri.

Oh, I knew you were a kindred spirit, Nina!

1. Caffeine -- definitely coffee, usually a couple of cups in the morning and sometimes one in the afternoon. Any more and my blood sugar drops through the basement. Especially I like lattes when I can get them. I like chai tea once in a while.   I've never really liked soda except for diet Pepsi, but I try to avoid those nowadays except for when we're on long trips.

2.   Alcohol -- I'm one of those who gets a head rush with wine -- don't know the term for it but my father has it too.   Makes us feel like our heads are going to explode. I don't drink much more than maybe once a week, but I like some of those non-wine coolers and I like brandy and whipped cream with my Chai     When I do drink it's usually because DH and I are having a drink together.

Oh I'm so glad you coffee drinkers spoke up. I was beginning to think that maybe I had a problem!

I love coffee! Starbucks Breakfast Blend in the morning freshly ground is my brew of choice. I probably consume 2 cups although I can't be certain; it seems I'm always getting a warmer up.

My great temptation is the Starbuck's drive thru which is on the way home from Mass. It seems to be always calling my name. My drink: Grande, Carmel Machiato, Non-fat, Light Whip. Those Cinnamon Dulces are really good too. Sweet though.

On Sunday night's, I get the best of both worlds, my dh and I sit down together and sip a decaf with Irish Cream. Bushman's is our favorite.

In the summer I enjoy an occasional Margarita. The strange thing is that whenever I'm pregnant a CRAVE margaritas. Since I can't drink them and the craving is so strong, I've searched for substitutes. I once found a margarita flavored Jell-O but it just wasn't the same! The margarita pie was a little better but way to rich.

I just tried my first martini, a Lemon Drop-Yum!

As for wine I like a good Pinot Gringo or a Merlot.

I actually just checked out some wine tasting videos from our library. Any one up for a wine tasting
