Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Um... yes Rebecca, thus the reason the vinegar traps are so effective.

That brain connection started working right after I hit "Post Reply".

This is totally the problem. And it's compuonded by the fact that my kids will use vinegar to clean and then leave the rag wherever. I think I'm going to switch to Basic H and tea tree for awhile...

They like limes and margaritas, too. 'Course, I don't use them as cleaning fluids.

Sounds like a cross between heaven and Jumanji!!

(Totally off fruit flies topic) - it took me a while to get Africa out of my system - went back to do missionary work just before college. I still think with nostalgia sometimes of the constant background noise of all the bugs and wildlife, the vibrant colors, my yard: my avocado tree (with big plump purple avocados), mango and mulberry trees, hibiscus and bouganvillea, passion fruit and lychees. BUT - I do not miss the mosquitoes and malaria and snakes (my personal phobia!)and lots of other exotic unwanted guests.
Anyway.. back to fruit flies....

In addition to traps and removing fruit and other culprits, I put a spoonful of baking soda and boiling water down my drains each night. Supposedly drains are a favorite hiding place when not in use.
