Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Margaret,

Again, I am sorry and will continue to pray. I feel like I am a miscarriage expert now since I have had 5. Not something I want to be an expert at, but that's how it is.

Most likely you can miscarry at home. Out of my 5, only 1 required going in for a D & C. Within about 2 hours of passing the baby and all tissue, your bleeding should slow down to a heavy period. If you have heavy bleeding and large clots after that 2 hour period, it is recommended you go in. YOu really can tell when things aren't progressing normally. I was passing clots the size of grapefruits and getting dizzy! (with miscarriage number 2)

As for showing the children, yes you must really pray but I am glad I never did. My first 4 were unrecognizable as being a baby but this last one was only 1/2 an inch long but I could see little hands, eyes, etc. and it was heart breaking. I didn't know how I would handle it but it was very shocking. I wasn't expecting to see a normal looking baby.

HTH. PM me if you need any more info and/or support.

The briefest of notes to say Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! everyone, for all of your prayers, advice and encouragement. You are seeing me through this; I have no doubt.

For all of the prayers, my greatest thanks.

For all of the private messages, I am so touched that you have taken the time to do that.

And for all the beautiful words that you offered up on your blogs, a most heartfelt and humble thanks!

Have a blessed day, my friends! Let us "take back the day" on this ignominious anniversary. We will be having a tea in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe (thank you, dear Alice) with three other homeschooling families!

Lisa (LLMom),

Wow. It was comforting for me to read your last post....I could have written those last words. Only 1/2" long but little hand against the little (proportionately larger)head and a discernible dark "socket" for the eye, and the little bottom even had a slight curved angle-"tail" with the legs curled to the side....like you always see in the pictures of 7 week fetuses.   My placenta came out in several pieces, with the last "piece"...a surprise: the little teeny tiny body. And that was it. Just very light bleeding after that.

My husband said NO to showing the children. I wanted to because they begged me to be part of everything....they wanted to have a little funeral in the yard, etc. But again: my husband said NO.

Still praying for you, Margaret!

I'm so sorry, Margaret. You are in my prayers. Your calmness and acceptance of this loss have really touched me tonight. I just love your 'take back the day' plan and I hope it was truly beautiful. Much love and hugs...

Ladies, I've started spotting this morning. May I please beg an extra prayer that all goes well with the delivery? You've been so generous already...

We're supposed to go up to Fargo this weekend for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary. It would be a huge blessing for me to be in good health for it!

Love to you all.

One last little update on this thread...

I delivered the body of my baby last night at 7 p.m. This was at the same time that my son was making his First Confession!

And so I knew both great sorrow and great joy on the same day.

We are thinking of naming him Francis Xavier (though of course we don't know the gender); Francis for St. Francis de Sales and Xavier because of our pet name for this baby of "Baby X."

I pray pray pray that this little one, having received the baptism of desire via his parents, is in heaven right now interceding for all of us and rejoicing on this great feast of the conversion of St. Paul.

God is so good. His love and mercy are everlasting.

Dear Margaret,
I will always think of him as Francis. And all our prayers for him are now turned around and he is praying for us!
So glad the delivery worked out alright and now you can be in peace.
Much love,
Jane

Oh my! The baby we lost a few weeks ago is named Francis as well (Assisi)!! Maybe they're getting to know each other right now.

Yes, he is! I just got a mental picture of all the little ones in heaven from this list smiling down, cheering and praying for us, and welcoming your little Francis. It's a large congregration.

I've heard suggested to pray for the name of the child, and it will come. It was so neat to see with our first chld that both my husband and I came to the same names and intercessor. It was the time of JPII's death. We didn't know if it was a boy or girl but we called him Karol Mary.

Praying for you Margaret. You are such a blessing to share your sorrow with us, so that we may be privileged to pray and share it with you. Your example is truly inspiring!

I often get this picture as well.

Mary, Robin, Shelby, James, Rachel, Raphael ... meet Francis Xavier, and Gwen's little Francis ... and thank you, all of you precious souls, for your prayers.

I wanted to send along John Paul the Great's words to women -- he addressed these to women who have had abortions, but if it is his conviction that those souls are in heaven, it stands to reason that the same is true for miscarried souls. The baptism of desire, via their parents, as Margaret mentioned, gives us reason to trust in God's infinite mercy. Our papa wrote:

"But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope ...

...You will come to understand that nothing is definitively lost and you will also be able to ask forgiveness from your child, who is now living in the Lord."

I do believe they are living in the Lord, and I look forward to a beautiful family reunion one day.

Karen, that is so, so beautiful.

and to you, my friend, and to you, dear Jenn, and to the rest of you! I'm sure that we are all finding consolation in the words of our great Papa.
