Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Lunch time. Older children help get lunch together, they serve and help my little guys, pass baby around, and clean up. I work out / walk 2-3 miles (with a video)depending on how well the older children are managing. Somedays it's only 15 minutes, but on average I get in 8-10 miles during the week and more when dh is home. Older children will also set my lunch out for me which I eat while teaching in the afternoon. Sometimes I'll eat an hour before I work out, but it does weigh me down a bit.

I have lost 20 lbs in the last 8 months this way. I eat healthy for the most part (Christmas ) and exercise, the weight doesn't come off like it would with a fad diet, but overall the perseverance is paying off.

At night, after dh comes home. Late. I'm trying to get to the gym twice a week. On average, it's once. Not enough.

I didn't do any such thing with a newborn, though. Just the odd swim at weekends when dh was home. My babies were always cluster feeding in the evenings.

I've also tried doing things at home, but it's just not as motivating. Once I tried skipping. Really not a good idea with my pelvic floor

oh I know.. dancing with a fussy baby can be good exercise. We had about a week where my sweet 5 week old wanted to dance for at least 15 minutes every evening about 9pm

When I do exercise, I try for the mornings. At night it's too easy to say I'm too tired. Although for about 6 months I did exercise at night out of necessity (no dh). That said, when I do exercise at night, I do it immediately after the kids go to bed. Then I finish up all my chores (cleaning the kitchen, etc). I will finish cleaning the kitchen no matter how tired I am, but I won't exercise. Now, my goal is to get up early enough to do a 20 minute pilates tape at the least and add some treadmill in if I can depending on dh's presence or absence. It is much harder with a new nursing baby.

Elizabeth, I can relate a bit with a baby who needs you a lot. Luke has been our very most 'needy' baby (in the best way!) I just now, 9 months out, feel like I'm coming up for a breath. I did make it to Curves a few times early on, but he was never very happy without me.

So.....I'm quitting Curves because working out there once a month is not worth $30.00. I could be buying books! I think for a year or so I've fooled myself thinking 'I've got Curves' and haven't done much else. I'm a good 10 pounds over what I should weigh, it's not coming off, and I'm quite frankly a bit....is frightened too strong of a word?

I have resolved to walking for about an hour as many days as possible each week. I'll haul the kids along in jogger, on bike, on foot, whatever works! And, I've begun jumping on the trampoline. Yes, it must be sight. I try to jump for about 20 minutes and it is a great workout. I would like to work in some yoga or pilates type exercises here at home. I'm not that disciplined, but I think my feelings of deparation just might be enough to get me down on that floor!
