Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We printed out Stations of the Cross pictures from Domestic Church a couple of years ago, had the children color them, then we made 14 popsicle stick grottoes for them.
We have a long hallway so we line them up and walk along, taking turns reading from a children's stations book.

We are too far away to attend Stations of the Cross at our parish, so we pray them at home. This past Friday, we prayed them while walking the paths carved out on our land. Two children carried lit candles and the rest took turns carrying a very large, heavy crucifix, which normally hangs on our porch (you could easily build a simple cross for this). We used the Franciscan Way of the Cross and sang the Stabat Mater after each station. Walking and praying has always been inspiring for us, and the barrenness of the winter landscape fit well with the mood of praying the Stations.

I hope its OK to post as a signpost to my blog which explains how we pray the rosary and stations each night in our family. We have large posters of each station on black card with pictures which we have placed on the living room walls. We pray just one station each night. Then we move to near our family altar and pray one decade of a sorrowful mystery. We use a scriptural rosary to aid our prayers and we have pictures of the mystery for the week on a bulletin board near the altar. We change these each week and put the "used" ones in a folder. By the end of the year(!) we should have our own art of the rosary book

I just came back from retreat and noticed the nice stations on the wall. I looked more carefully and noticed they were handmade frames. They were 8x10 prints, a little different than CHC, with a frame made from two straight edges on the left and right, and two different wood moldings, one with a little ledge on top to hold the cross, and less prominent on the bottom. The whole frame was painted gold.

It got my wheels spinning.....
