Elizabeth, your husband might benefit from the book I am currently reading - The Language of God: a Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief by Francis S.Collins. The author was head of the human genome project and is also a convinced Christian (not Catholic). From what I have seen so far it may well answer many of his questions.

Thank you so much for your kindness, support and prayers. I am so grateful. I will certainly follow up the book suggestions (although dh hasn't much time for reading once he's finished with his interminable journals etc) and most of all will pray -- for this, and for all your intentions.

I'll say a prayer - and some of it just may be "thinking aloud." Every now and then I get into mental discussions with myself on really fundamental issues of faith - certainly helps me prepare answers for others!
