Hi,
We're about to start our Rosary and I thought anyone reading right about now might be able to add a little prayer.
My dh is sitting on the highway, trying to get home but is at a standstill. It is whiteout conditions, so please pray he can get to his exit before they close the highway.
I'll let you know if he makes it here this afternoon! Thank you!!

Oh my! A white Christmas is Colorado is the best! (once everyone is home safe and warm)
I remember one year when I was a kid we had a blizzard come through Christmas Eve in Denver and the entire family was stranded at Grandma's (she had 8 kids and everyone made it home that year bringing all their kids, that little house was packed!) and the next morning she pitched all the guys outside with the kids and we dug tunnels, the snow was so deep!
Praying, Gwen!

Gwen, I'll be praying that your dh makes it home safe. And I'll also be praying that the snow comes this way -- 45 degrees right now and the sun is shining!

Praying, Gwen. A blizzard is only enjoyable when everyone is home and snug inside.
We've had such mild weather. It's highly unlikely that we get snow for Christmas...even dusting in this area, but it is hard to get prepared for Christmas when it's 70 degrees outside when you know it's SUPPOSED to be at least 40. The awful truth -- I have nothing to wear when the weather tips like this.
But it would mean so much for my dh (and I'm sure so many others) to get a little dusting for Christmas. Right now, it looks like rain.

Is he home yet, Gwen? We just got back from being out in it. It is nasty and I was praying all the way!

Sorry...it's not good news. He's gone about 1/4mi. He's still 3/4 mi. from his exit and the hwy is a parking lot. He has an uphill exit when and if he gets there. It is blowing so bad and he would have several miles to walk. I'm trying to find out if there is a shelter in the area.
Thanks again!

1982! I will never forget it. It was just our 2nd Christmas together with our first ds and our little car was buried. No way were we going to Mom's house. I was just telling the kids I have no idea what we had for Christmas dinner but it had to be Hamburger helper or something (that was about my speed) because we hadn't been prepared to stay home.
At least I don't have to attach a line yet to the house to run out to the garage for stuff out of the freezer!

The hwy was closed at his exit, which he hasn't reached yet (5 hrs. now for a 25 min. drive). It is getting dark now and the shelter being opened is just down the street from our house, so it won't be of much help to the people on the other side of the closed portion.
Actually please start to pray for the thousands of people sitting in their cars right now on the highways. Most of them have been there for 3-5 hours trying to get home and in most cases, like my dh's, stuck busses are blocking the streets and highways.
Thanks for your continued prayers...I am so worried. He forgot his gloves but he has his hat.

Oh, Gwen, I'm praying ! I just got off the phone with my son who lives in Colorado Springs. His flight tomorrow has been cancelled and he hopes he'll get out on Saturday - the thought of him not making it home for Christmas has me near tears, but at least he's safe in his house, not on the road. Your dh and all those stranded on the road will be in our rosary intentions tonight. Keep us updated!
Blessings,
Kym

Oh I am so sorry to read this, Gwen! I am praying for your husband and all those stranded (as well as you and your family) right now and will continue to do so until we get a happy update.
(I better go call my sister in Aurora - I had no idea this weather was happening!)
Blessings,
Jen

OH Gwen! Here I'm feeling "fat and sassy" sitting inside with all of us home! Rick did go in this morning but he walks back and forth and was able to come home at 1 or so....had to stop at grocery first as, of course , I had run out of milk (but beer, wine and Scotch, we got )
Anyway, know that you and your dh are definitely in our prayers -- please let us know what's happening -- I'll be checking every so often just to make sure he makes it home......
Blessings, my friend.....

The power of prayers makes me feel amazed and humbled. Dh suddenly started moving after dark when it seemed he and 1000's others would spend part of the night (at least) sitting in their cars on the highway. Once he navigated through 3 lanes of spun out cars and busses he was doing 25 mph toward his exit. And now he's here!! Thank you!
I'm so sorry for those of you who will be missing time with loved ones...we'll pray for you. Keep praying for those who are stranded--there are 1000's!
