You ladies make me smile

Maybe this will help?

Last year I started a new tradition:
I send Christmas cards IN the Christmas SEASON
_after_ the feast.

It takes the stress off me a bit...
and reminds people (or at least me ) that Christmas lasts until the first week of January.

Tried to take the "picture" last night. I think I took 50 pictures, and not one had 4 kids looking presentable (how do you folks with bigger families do it? Photoshop???).

p.s. Actually, yes, MacBeth - we had a photo with 8 people in it last Christmas and my husband actually had to perform "head transfers" on three people... I'm so grateful he's talendted with PhotoShop.

We took a picture of only the kids this year. It's "Miracle on 38th Drive" that they all look nice and happy. My husband is not happy with how dark the pictures turned out, but that's my fault. I sent Winkflash a dark picture. So if you get a card from us and have to squint to see the kids, you'll know why.

Tim, $50.00!?!? My 40 pictures cost me $9.20!

And Elizabeth, I'm sure even if Paddy looks *dorky*, he's still a cutie!

That is such a funny idea, Tim. I am sorely tempted .

I bought my mother a digital camera for Christmas. It arrived today. this evening we are going to learn how to use it, take our photo, and put it back into the box. This is really imperative, as she will call about 100 times over the next few weeks with questions about how to use the camera. This way, we will all know that answers. And we'll have a photo, too.

I'm really bummed to know that picture taking doesn't get easier when there are no toddlers.

Certainly not, Bridget! My 11yo is at least as "cooperative" as the 4yo.

This is always an option if you can't get The Picture.

Guess what?!? I have gift books that I had stored in England. I have a bunch of the Redwall set. Can't find the one I want. AAAAaaaack!

St. Anthony, pray for us.

Tracy, I like your generic card. Can we change the number of children on it to be at least a *little* more personal?

I was going to do a practice photo shoot to see if my idea (we tried something less traditional this year) was going to work. Well, we had so much "fun," (LOL)that we just picked one of those practice shots. I put a few of the outakes and the winner up on my online album.

We ordered cards from shutterfly on Friday and they arrived on Monday (yes, we paid for expedited shipping, but, still, they estimated a mid-week delivery); same with the photo book we ordered. They are all excellent quality and I couldn't be happier. Well, I would have preferred to have a cool downtown backdrop for the photo, but, as I say, our backyard session was just too much fun as it was.

Oh yeah...that one Christmas card that I've delivered didn't have a photo in it. Bah Humbug!

Oops, it's not mine. I should've given credit here. I didn't think about the fact that the blog it came from is also written by a Tracy! (Actually, a Tracey. ) Sorry! This Tracy has yet to take a Christmas photo either (and I only have one child to pose), but I did get ds to draw me a beautiful Nativity scene which I scanned in to be the cover of our cards this year. Now to print, stuff, address, and stamp...

Jennifer, that was priceless!      I really think you should send a virtual card with that link to as many people as you can. I loved it---adorable and very funny, especially with the captions. And the background was perfect. Oh, that I could be so creative...

I agree with Diane -- absolutely precious! You could even have done what Elizabeth did -- 9 small pictures on one picture card. (She posted that idea on page 1 of this thread.)

In France, it's the tradition to send New Year's greetings. (Probably a result of the Revolution...but it lets me off the hook.)

Bonne Nouvelle Année!

We did something like this. I just knew I couldn't take the stress level of trying to get a good picture, so I took pictures from over the past year, cropped out only the heads, tweaked 'em with my digital scrapbooking software, turned them into black and whites so they'd look "classy" LOL, put in some Merry Christmas message with said software, and sent 'em off to the one hour photo place (I used Walmart *ducking* but other places will do this). Got back nice 4x6s, cheap, that looked good -well, at least the KIDS looked good, lol, I'm thinking my *design* was way too busy looking.

I know it's kind of late, but if any of you would like to send me files of photos you'd like to use with some instructions (i.e. just the heads, favorite colors, busy looking or plain, what you want it to say, etc), I could do the same for you, upload them to a photo place, then send you a link to how you could order them online.   It really doesn't take me long so don't worry about imposing. I can't find a good source for envelopes though, we just put our photos into a Christmas card so we had that envelope.

Just PM me if you are interested in a scrapbooked Christmas card.

I haven't gotten my Christmas cards done, either. I have a photo I'm using from our summer vacation, but I have yet to order the reprints.

Is there an unwritten rule that cards must be there before Christmas? I wrote to my mil for an address, and she wrote back "I hope this is not too late..." Too late! GRRRRRRR. Well, I know what she'll think about seeing me address cards while she is here!

My middle son just informed me that he expected to get pjs, like he does every year. Well, I wasn't prepared for that this year, but looking at the gaping hole in his knee and how he looks ready for at least four inches of flood waters, I decided to spring for pjs for the whole family. I ordered them online TODAY and am quite thankful of a tradition we started a long time ago.

The kids get small gifts (something that will fit in their stockings) from St. Nicholas on December 6. They get larger gifts from the Christ Child/St. Nick (we still haven't narrowed down which) on Christmas. Then, on Holy Innocents Day, Mom and Dad usually spring for a family gift. On January 6th, the Three Wise Men leave something for each child. We spread our gift giving over the holiday season which helps me when I'm as disorganized as I am this year. I guess the kids will get their pjs from the Three Wise Men.

And I'm STILL on the hunt for that Redwall book.

I'm teetering over the edge of a meltdown. I was patting myself on the back for remembering to get the piano tuned for Christmas. It wasn't in bad tune, but because we still had a free one, I wanted to make sure it was doing okay after acclimating to our house and a winter and summer and fall season.

I sat down to play just now and there's a key that is so discordant. It just so happens to be the C below middle C, a note used quite often. I have to call, and schedule and be home for a tuner...and will they have free time before Christmas?

Boohoooohoooo

I know it's minor in the scheme of things. It's just that everything else is piling up around me, my mil will be here in 2 days and I'm not ready.................

So I'm just going to take a nap in the hopes that will make me feel a little better.

I just completed the last half of the alphabet, and my oldest is mailing all the cards, as I write. Each year, I vow that I will get them out earlier.

I would like to look into getting all the addresses onto the computer, so I could print out labels, which would help, timewise, I think?

I did go the route of a Christmas letter, as I didn't have time for all the personal notes.

And as for pictures, we don't have a digital camera, and it was hard finding pictures of everyone, especially looking good. So I took an assortment of the better pictures, and put them all together on one sheet at Kinko's.

Now I am having to look at the cookie baking!!!    I am doing the holiday baking for ds's Godmother, too. I think I am going to "whip up"
Dawn's lemon cookies, from her Dec. 18th post!

God Bless,
Stacy in MI

OK...deep breath. It's Thursday!!

Trip's exams are done by 12noon today.

Christmas picture taken (it'll be up on my Christmas page soon).

Christmas pictures printed (thanks to dh, who spent 4 hours last night perfecting them...still cut a bit off the Top of Trip's head...not sure why).

Christmas cards in boxes ready for personal notes
Recording session at 2pm. Music lost . Music ordered online for download at Everynote (last minute gift idea: Christmas chamber sheet music downloads for cheap!!). Music situation under control. I think.

Accompanist scheduled and paid.

Mass schedule confirmed, but we got a very strange early-morning call from an organist who thinks there is a rehearsal tonight that he can't make. Um...there is no rehearsal tonight.

Bought a tree!

Overall, I think there is some progress!
