My 18 x 13 sheets are from Sam's (whoops, is that a bad word?) -- restaurant gauge, very heavy, and cost about $5 each.
Gwen, have you contacted LeCreuset about it? They're supposed to have a lifetime guarantee.
Oh, and OXO should start paying me for every person I've told about their customer service -- they're awesome!!! They sent me a free salad spinner after the mechanism rusted on mine (I was on my second). I *love* my OXOs.

Hi Stef- My stick blender is just an inexpensive Braun but it has worked well for a number of years now. It's also great for making baby food, so I've been using it daily with no problems.
I second the giant griddle! How else could I make 15 pancakes at a time!?
Speaking of Sam's, they have a lot of useful items for large families at reasonable prices in the restaurant section. I just got some very nice stainless steel mixing bowls at a very nice price. They are deep which makes mixing less messy when little people are cooking. They also had multi packs of white restaurant tablecloths which looked tempting - very inexpensive compared to a department store tablecloth.

I love my pot rack. Once Bill finally hung it, we realized we could never do without it. (He doesn't even mind when he hits his head on the pots ).

I agree about the electric skillet. My dh bought me one for Christmas last year. I had remembered my mother using one when I was growing up, and I told dh I really wanted one. I love it! We use our's a lot.
We can't live without our stock pots and our crockpot either.

Wilson cake pan 12x18 actually I am not sure it is a Wilson but I bought it at a cake decorating supply store. It is heavier duty then the regular cake pan. Hope that helps. Annie

Ohhh, I want one of those. Most of our pots just stay on the stove because they are too big for the cabinets.

My Cuisinart food processor is the one thing I absolutely need but don't buy anything less than the 14-cup for a large family. I went from the 7-cup to the 11 cup and I should have bought larger. I knead all my bread, do pie crusts, chop everything, whip up homemade applesauce (the uncooked kind) for recipes, do double batches of cookie dough, chop nuts, etc.etc. |

Really Gwen, can you do all that with it? I had no idea!

Hi Brenda,
Yes it purees and does all the doughs, cake mixes, etc. It kneads the bread dough, so you just put in the ingredients and let it go. It has slicing and grating blades so I can throw in an apple or a carrot and grate them and make a slaw or use it in bread or cake. I used to have a mixer attachment that would beat with beaters and that's how I did my egg whites and whipped cream but when I went to the larger cuisinart it wouldn't fit (they're expensive). The only thing I can't do is whip smoothies and anything with ice. I need to use my blender for that.

Thanks for the response Gwen. Do you use the blade for mixing up the cake mixes & dough. What about the kneading? Blade, as well? Do you know if it works with whole wheat bread?
Thx again!

Whew Brenda...
Getting back here was on my list of things to do before our power (maybe) goes out later...
The blade is the mixer and the chopper. It purees, mixes doughs and kneads the bread dough. It also chops coursely or fine, depending on how long you leave it going. It works great with whole wheat bread. I've also made Hot Cross Buns & Pan de Muerte for feast days. The one thing I don't do with it is make muffins or quick bread because the blade is too rough to mix gently, although you could do it with the pulse I still think it's too much.
Speaking of food processors check out this Smashing Bean dip at Cooking with Whine. It sounds fabulous!

I meant to mention that when I had the extra money (thank you child tax credit!) for an appliance, I chose the Cuisinart over the KitchenAid basically for the added ability to shred, slice and chop in addition to mixing. Not being able to whip egg whites or cream is the downside, for which I use a cheap hand mixer or the egg beaters.
I bet for serious foodies (I'm not too discriminating ) there is a difference in the beating as far as cakes ,etc. goes.
I'm sure there is a difference in the amount of air that gets whipped in with beaters vs. processor; anybody know more about this for sure? Like I said above, there is a beater attachment but it's expensive.
