Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Maybe it's sleep deprivation. Maybe's it's distraction over college applications. Maybe it's postpartum. Or maybe all that radiation to my brain is finally catching up with me.

For the last six months, I've been saving cash a little at a time to pay for a side of beef. Last week, I moved the cash stash to a different hiding place. The beef comes today. I cannot remember where I put the cash!!

I went to comment on Margaret's glorious news and I couldn't remember my blogger username/password (I use that almost everyday but I just couldn't retrieve it from my gray matter).

And yesterday, I coldn't remember my husband's office phone number. (This is a relatively new number, but still...)

Please pray I find my mind--and the cash would be nice too.

hmmm...I hear you, Elizabeth. I lost my mind about 6 months ago. Every time I try to say something to one of my kids, we go through roll call before I hit on the right name. It's driving us crazy. I don't know what's the matter with me. And, we just found my favorite rosary which had been moved to a new place last month !

Praying for mental health for us both.

Don't worry, I think St. Anthony has set up an apartment at your house.

Very funny. I wonder if he has four nativity sets displayed there. I can't find them here...

Praying to St.Anthony.

It has got to be the lack of sleep.
When I am tired I mix up my words or just atop in the middle of a word.
The family starts to replace words for me or accomodates for the requests that they "put on their mailbox and get outside and play."
Unfortunately the fuddling of language gets me upset and makes it worse. The girls know now not to restate the sentence correctly for my piece of mind.
After my mother died of complications when she was 10 years into Altzheimer's, I was sure I had early onset Altzheimer's.
When you are more rested, you will not be misplacing things.

BTW, forcing myself to have one place for things has helped. As I am a reforming multi-tasker this is a hard habit. With Michele's planner, there is one place for lists, including passwords, and now one place for coupons, and one place for $ stuff. After our house fire I finally found thos airline tickets we had to replace!
SOmetimes I believe I have become my MIL with a certain place for keys and the odds and ends of stuff in my purse.

Comtinued best wishes on the college application quest.
V

Elizabeth -

You certainly have had a lot (too much?) on your mind lately. Praying that you find that cash and that your life calms down soon. You're not in too deep trouble if all you forgot about your husband is his phone number .... just as long as you remember his name ...

Peace,
Nancy

"Oh my dear faithful friend, St. Anthony. Elizabeth needs your help! I will pray three Hail Mary's in your name for the poor as a thank you for helping her as I know you will!"

...so, we have it covered, Elizabeth!
Go easy on yourself. Now is the time of year to let that infant Jesus guide you by the hand!
Lately I am challenged to remember my name...literally. I was asked...and I could NOT remember for the life of me! sheesh! I am thinking...small and humble like the infant....what do you think? Maybe it is where I need to be?

I am praying Elizabeth. Thirteen years ago my husband and I set aside some money in an envelope to purchase our first bed. We stuck it in a book.

I have never found it! Someday I will pick a book off the shelf and have quite a surprise!

I do hope you find your beef money sooner, though.

I found the nativity sets ! I'm kinda afraid to hide the Baby Jesuses. I may not remember where they are on Christmas Eve.

...I put mine in my kitchen cabinets, next to the bakeware for that very reason. I figure we HAVE to eat, right? (So there's a better chance I'll find them again!)

I put the Baby Jesus on top of the fireplace mantle. It gets so dusty there so no one wants to touch it or even look there.

We moms who hide things should probably have one box in our closets where everything that needs to be hidden goes -- one year I ordered a Thomas cake topper for my toddler who loved Thomas, and then his birthday came I couldn't find it. So we had to take his toy and put it on the cake -- then wash it afterwards.
