Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I received another update on Baby Jack earlier this evening:

Lisa left a detailed message that seemed very hopeful. Earlier in the day, the MRI information related to Lisa and Chris by the doctors seemed pretty grim. But, in her message to me this evening, things look a little more optimistic. After speaking with the neurologist about Jack's MRI, there are still many unanswered questions about how Jack's vision may or may not be impacted by the damage done as a result of the strokes. The initial reading leaned heavily toward cortical blindness, a vision processing issue due to trauma to the occipital region of the brain. However, the neurologist was less certain about giving a definitive diagnosis. They have to wait and see and hope and pray that Jack's brain event will yield mild if any issues with his vision.

Let's continue to pray for this end with the Kearns family and lift them up to continue to be strong and trusting of God's unwavering love for them and also, to get some much needed rest.

We are praying and praying for Baby Jack. And for Lisa. The update she wrote yesterday had me in tears. She is an amazingly strong woman - but she must be so tired out.

Please pray for Jack Kearns as they prepare to do surgery to remove the mass from his liver. There is a possibility that this encapsulated mass may be malignant. Please pray that it is not. Also, opening up Jack's peritoneal cavity can have a negative impact on his dialysis. Please pray that he heals quickly from the incision and is able to resume PD as soon as possible.

In addition to these prayers, please continue to pray for strength and wisdom for the Kearns family and all the doctors responsible for Jack's care.

I posted a prayer update earlier during Jack's surgery that now needs correction. The main gist of the prayer request was for the ability of the doctors to finish the surgery without complications.

A new update recently came out via email and Jack came through the surgery fine. Thank God. They were able to remove the mass, but they will need to wait some days for the results of the biopsy.

The news I heard earlier sounded very worrisome - that was in the midst of the surgery. But the email sent after the surgery was completed was much more positive.

Please continue to pray that the mass is benign!

I really should have update this prayer request before now. Please pray for Jack. The mass turned out to be malignant, and after a very difficult month, they are finally ready to begin chemotherapy tomorrow (Friday). It will be rather tricky due to the kidney problems and dialysis, so prayers are much appreciated.

On the positive side, Jack celebrated his first birthday last week -- something that many would have called miraculous.
