Today:
I shouldn't have sent such a positive email, because things seem to change every time I do. Jack, and Mom, had a really rough night last night. His blood pressures skyrocketed for some reason that they haven't quite yet determined. Just as we were getting things taken out and off of him, he had to have another IV line placed to give him a drip of BP meds. Jack is also scheduled for surgery this morning to get an arterial line placed in him so that they can monitor his pressures 24/7. He has to go back off of his "going home soon" dialysis and eating regimen. I have to admit, that I'm quite scared about all of this and I'm not sure what it all means yet. We just need some super prayers - thanks so much, and God bless,
Lisa

A friend of mine talked to baby Jack's dad today. He said things are looking up, and that, barring unexpected difficulties, he may be home with them for the first time by the middle of next week! They have a long road ahead of them, with nightly dialysis, etc.
Keep praying, please!

I cannot even imagine the rollercoaster. I expect they will need prayers even after the crisis is over as well - when all the adrenalin shuts down and the family realizes how exhausted they are from all of this. Continued prayers and thanks for the update.

I got an email that was dated Monday that said they were expecting to arrive home with baby Jack on Tuesday. I haven't received confirmation yet that he is indeed home. Let's pray that all went well and they are enjoying being home together as a family for the first time!

I meant to write this days ago, but here goes now. Jack did, indeed, come home from the hospital last week. It's been a rough start, with trips to the ER and challenging days figuring out all the medical needs at home now. But they are so grateful to have him at home.
I saw his mom at Mass on Sunday and she is very grateful for all the prayers and support. I thought I'd share a God-incidence story. My husband stopped to say hi to Jack's mom at church too. He told her that he had offered his unemployment woes up for Jack and her family all along. (This was something I hadn't known until then.) She was very touched by that. You see, the job that Joe finally landed was with an organization that she had worked for before becoming a stay at home mom. She was thrilled that Joe had started working there. We had not known her connection when he was going through the interviewing process. It was as if Joe's offering for her son was answered with a job that was connected to her. I'm not sure if this is coherent or not, but we both felt that the connections were God's way of telling us both that He heard our prayers and He loved us and was taking care of us all along.

Jack came home but then...
I received this today:
Please pray earnestly for baby Jack Kearns who has been admitted to Fairfax
Hospital with a possible diagnosis of the flu. Because of his condition,
this would be particularly risky for him.
More prayers needed!
