With tears in my eyes and great hope in my heart, I pray for complete healing for John Paul Kearns through the intercession of St. Benedict, Fr. John Lubby, Marguerite of Antioch, Philomena, Collette of Corby, Betsy Bruton, and Cecila Kolash.
Thank you for posting this request, Suzanne, and welcome.
Love,

Please pray for Jack Kearns who is currently in surgery to insert the catheter for potential dialysis treatments. He should be out of surgery shortly after 6pm.

An update from Lisa:
I LOVE IT!!! This little guy is bringing so many people closer to the Lord
in prayer, and we are floating on the cloud of Grace you are sending our
way.
And I just wanted to tell you what your prayers gave me today... Jack
finally came out of his anesthesia/morphine fog and we had such a great
afternoon together. His eyes were wide open, and aside from a few peeks
last week, this was the first real gaze I got from him. I talked to him
sideways, by his bed, for about an hour, and just drank in his sweet face.
It was wonderful.
And for the technical stuff...he's off the ventilator, and doing really well
on all counts today. They hope to start a little dialysis tomorrow to get
things going. We had more discussions about the future today, and will talk
more tomorrow with the teams that are working on Jack about what we need to
do to get him to Fairfax or even home.
As for the rest of the family, Chris took them to Ft. McHenry for a history
field trip this afternoon then to the grocery store to stock up. They had a
great day out together while I played schmoopy mom :) And Chris is taking a
turn tonight to say prayers with Jack and to tuck him in. All is well.

An update. Baby Jack is doing well, but he is having surgery today. (They hope to have him home in a few weeks)
Date:Thursday, December 21, 2006,2:10:29 PM
(edited for length)
Yesterday was Jack's due date, so we pretended he was just born, I took him into my arms, and I nursed him for the first time. He was also very alert so we had a wonderful day chatting and getting to know each other. Praise God!
Jack no longer needs any breathing support, and he just has a little tube in his nose that goes to his tummy to help him get enough nutrition. He was on a ventilator for a few days last week after having some trouble with his little lungs, but by Friday afternoon he decided he had had enough of that, so he took both hands and yanked out the tube himself. There are no more lines in his hands/wrists or feet. He's able to wear a little shirt, he likes being bundled, and I can hold him almost whenever I want.
The dialysis is working really well now, and his numbers are looking great. The nurse practitioner that examined him today had not seen him in a week, and voted him "most improved baby" since her last shift. I don't mean to be prideful, but you should all know that your prayers are working! There are still several steps that we need to go through until Jack can come home. First of all, he will need another surgery at which time they will add 2 more holes to his belly, in addition to the dialysis catheter. One is so that we can feed him directly into his tummy, as babies on dialysis often need more nutrition than they can eat on their own. The other will drain his bladder directly out through his belly.
May God bless you all,
Lisa
