Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Amy
It looks fantastic!!

How did you get your picture in the banner?
I tried to use a picture from a blog post ...
but it didn't work.

Could you give me instructions?

LOL Helen, I'm not sure if I *could* give instructions as it was a lot of trial and error.

I'll try to paste my code in if it helps any -

This is the banner area. Yours might be slightly different if you are using a different original template, but it might give you an idea.

#header {
width: 665px;
height: 520px;
margin: 0 auto;
background: #996699 url(photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger2/2728/115025016060347/1600 /565027/curran1.jpg) no-repeat 0% 0%;
background-position: center;

border: 1px solid $headerBgColor;
color: $headerTextColor;
padding: 0;
font: $headerFont;
}

Where it says "photos1.blogger..etc" you need to put the http : // without spaces - it is hard to put html code in the posts here because it tends to want to read it and use it as HTML! Go figure. Of course the URL you put in will be the exact location of your picture.

You may have to adjust the px height, etc to fit your picture better.

The number after background is the color hex code, yours will probably be different. :)

Hope this helps a bit!

OK, I've thoroughly fooled around with Beta Blogger now - I'm quite impressed with myself that I was able to create a 3 column template out of a 2-column!

It looks nice, Amy...but you're so good at tweaking!

Does Typepad have a 2 column template? I actually like that Blogger look.

Typepad does have lots of two-column template options.

But I'll just say this--if Blogger Beta had been around when I started blogging, I would probably have gone that route instead of Typepad. (Gasp!)

However, since I am firmly ensconced in Typepad-land, I will say that I love the convenience of Typelists, the password-protect option, and the ease with which I can set up multiple blogs (some of my kids have their own, and I have one for our extended family, and I've just started a new one to journal our breadbaking adventures since I want to write about that topic without having to worry about polishing...I think I'm going to call it "Peace of Bread," what do you think?).
