My husband and I had a very long talk last night and I was made aware of how much he is losing his faith in God. He thinks I've been spending too much time on religious education (it's actually a lot less time than many of you here - mostly it's reading a story in the morning from the bible, the catechism or the saints) and has been expressing a lot of doubts about the authenticity of the bible and the Catholic church.
He is still angry at God for giving our oldest boy autism and is still wondering if it's fault that it happened. At least, this is my perception from what he said. He thinks I'm nuts for wanting to homeschool all the boys (right now our middle child is attending public school and our youngest is only 3).
This is coming out all muddled. I do feel that there is a lot I can do to help strengthen his faith but I don't want to push him further away. I also think that he's spending too much time reading and listening to secular media and this is making him more cynical to a life of faith. I'd like to try and steer him towards more spiritual reading but I know that if I push too hard I'll push him away.
Anyways, I would appreciate some prayers if you could...

Taffy,
I am just seeing this now. I feel so badly for your dh and you. I"m going to begin a St. Joseph novena tomorrow after Mass for your family and all husbands who struggle.
I went through a time of great guilt and upset after being told I was unable to biologically have children. I felt like such a let down to my husband. Maybe your dh just needs to purge his feelings about autism. Is there a support group if your area? Would you be able to join a yahoo group for parents with children who have autism?
Just some thoughts....
