Reading through the updates has been like a roller coaster ride...I can't even imagine what it's like living them! Our prayers are with Michael (and his parents ) as you wade through the emotions and logic to find peace and a workable solution. Hang in there!

I think there are about six threads of prayers for Michael through the college soccer recruiting process. This is the last post (until he leaves and I need moral support ). We're through the recruiting and the applying and the deciding .
Real Learning: Education in the Heart of the Home wrote:
When my eldest son Michael, was two, the coach who brought Pele to the United States watched him dribble a ball down the hall at the university where my husband worked. "That child has incredible timing," he said. "What a gift and what a responsibility." That same coach sat with my husband, Mike, in his office, watching the video of Michael's first game when he was six. Mike was watching on video because his job took him away that weekend. Michael scored seven goals that day... |
|
|
Last Tuesday, Michael walked that same hall, into the office of the soccer coach. It's a different coach who works there now. They had a long talk. Michael went back outside to the same place where we sat in the car nursing when he was a baby, waiting for Mike after work, and he called me. After all these long months, he was offered a spot on the team. He'll play here and he'll pray here, in the chapel where he received his First Holy Communion.
When I got off the phone, Mary Beth said, "So I guess we'll be driving to Mason a lot?"
I reminded her it isn't very far away. Without missing a beat, Nicholas said, "34 minutes." He had timed it during basketball season. I think I can handle 34 minutes .
And the coach who scouted him when he was two? He's in the late stage of Alzheimer's disease. Michael is going to see if he will see him--he's got some good news to share.

Sounds like it all came together beautifully. I'm so glad it's settled. He will be magnificent there!

Dear Elizabeth -
What a journey this has been! And, in a sense, it is only beginning! Congratulations on the decision. And, yes, we will all be here to support you when it's time for Michael to leave. But 34 minutes is a lot closer than Dallas....
Peace,
Nancy

I couldn't be happier for all of you, Elizabeth! Congratulations to the Foss family . My boys will be especially excited to hear the news. I feel like a proud auntie and anticipate bragging about Michael at the Little League field tonight

What a blessing that he gets to follow his heart's dream and remain so close to home. God is faithful. That's wonderful news, Elizabeth.

What wonderful news and what a blessing it's where he wants to be .... fantastic! God is so good.
My stepdaughter accepted the full-ride to Georgia Southern (she's a belle from NC anyway!) to play v-ball; she's so excited and so happy to have that taken care of.
Blessings and hugs to all the scholar athletes out there!
