I am so sorry. I can imagine how disappointed he is!
I am praying and will offer up all the uncertainty around here for Michael to find his place, and for peace in your home while you go through this stressful couple of weeks.
We just read The Crippled Lamb this morning. It was beautiful. I know Michael isn't quite that lamb, but maybe he can find some comfort in reading that story again. God has a plan and a place for all of us.

Wow, praying for Michael - and for all of you as you try to jump through a different set of hoops. We'll be praying that all those SAT tests come out grand, that you and he can remember exactly what he did and that there is peace and joy at the end of this exercise.

Okay here's the latest:
Michael and my dh are in Orlando this week at a premiere recruiting showcase. Michael's team has made it all the way through to the finals, which will be played at 1:00.  This means that every coach who is still down there will be watching this ONE game. Right now, Michael's being heavily recruited by a college that doesn't seem like the greatest fit. He's come a long way in the last month and is now considering not playing at all in college. So, he might be about to play his last game. Or, he might be about to be seen by a great coach at a great school with all sorts of promise. Please pray for grace and for wisdom and for peace all the way around. And, if you're so inclined, some spectacular play for Michael and a win for the team wouldn't hurt either. If that's God's will. Really, that's all we want: His will.

Elizabeth,
What I know about Michael (I feel blessed to get to know him through your eyes) is he is a very talented boy (almost a man) who is good at writing (like his mom), art, being a big brother, a loving son, and most importantly he knows he is a child of God.
I will pray for him. It is wonderful to see such a beautiful reflection of God's grace in the world.
